There is some difference between losing thousands of soldiers in ten years, and in ten days. Though admittedly life has always been cheap-ish in Russia so maybe that won’t matter.

> tomorrow would be exactly the same. Right now Ukraine is a democracy with free press etc. Under Russian occupation you'd have dictatorship, death squads, the whole country looted. Exactly the same, sure.

Third time’s the charm, right? Yanukovych has been kicked out of Ukraine by a revolution twice. Madness to think the result would be different this time.

Which totally makes sense. Russia is a dictatorship waging a war of aggression a democratic neighbour. Why should we give their state propaganda outlets any amplification?

Seconding this one. Great lightweight tent without major compromises, but still at a reasonable price and mainstream availability (unlike most of the ultralight tents made of exotic materials)

Instead of going watch-only, I went tablet-only for a while. That also discouraged doomscrolling as you’d have to dig the tablet from a bag instead of just grabbing a phone from a pocket. Sadly most tablets are not waterproof, and are quite

At the c-base hackerspace in Berlin we integrated OpenMCT with our MQTT/MsgFlo setup to visualize all kinds of stats. Here's a post on how to do it: https://bergie.iki.fi/blog/nasa-openmct-iot-dashboard/

If you don't have a spare Kindle lying around, smallish e-paper modules are nowadays quite cheap, and can be driven easily from a Raspberry Pi (Zero W upwards). That's what we did on our boat: https://github.com/me

Totally anecdotal, but I feel open source projects were much more community oriented in the 90s and the 00s. But after that, it seems they’re either driven by a company, or an individual. That would roughly conform to the article’s timeline

There has been quite a lot of IoT automation / rule engine stuff done in NoFlo in the last couple of companies I’ve worked at, but obviously I can’t really go into specifics there. Then there was this startup way back when: https:
