Some screen time is ok, but this can be a slippery slope. Screen time for your child might buy you some free time, but is not a replacement for real interaction. In 20, 30, 40 years I guarantee you will give anything to be able to go back a

Minnesota has turned very anti-mining in the past several years and the Federal Gov't approving depends heavily on which admin is in power. I'd be curious to see estimates on when they think they can gain approval to begin extract

Yeesh… assuming that is all accurate that is quite a raw deal for customers. I don’t know much about the regulatory environment in CA but I thought there was either deregulation which allowed you to pick your provider or strong monopoly reg

Isn’t this rate jump partially the result of rulings that made PG&E liable for damages from fires started by overheated transformers?

Right. I just think property tax is the wrong lever to pull here. I think we should remove carrots (the tax advantages at the federal level) instead of trying to penalize via harsher taxes.

Companies don’t pay property tax, their renters do. I say this as someone who owned rental properties in an area that jacked up property taxes. Me and all the other landlords simply raised rent to compensate.

Yea, I don’t think the LLC liability game is that big of a deal. First, most of these companies will hold large liability insurance protection. But also, if someone sues and can prove negligence they can go further up the chain to the indiv

If a behavior is occurring that is technically legal but the majority believe the behavior is harmful/undesirable we pass laws to stop that behavior. In this case, stopping or slowing this is actually pretty simple: Change the tax code

Fair enough, but why isn’t every business/industry subject to this? Maybe all data centers, farmers, etc should have to provide detailed reporting on the energy they use.

Good! Govt debt growth needs to slow. Too much money spent by govt is being wasted on undeserved transfer payments, creating do-nothing jobs and has been a huge contributor to inflation. Real efficiency is falling because of overspending in

This is a very bold prediction. Given how aggressively we expanded the money supply just a few years ago, mass bank failures seem quite unlikely as asset price increases generated quite a bit of equity leaving plenty of buffer room for loan

Good luck changing building regs to suit that. Also, it sounds like you’re proposing building adult dormitories. Is there any evidence people want that?

Hard to see things going that way. We've just started to rein in inflation. I don't think anyone (Fed, politicians, or the public) has the stomach for more QE.

How can the “fairness” be determined if the specifics of the algorithm are not known to the judge, defense or jury? We can’t allow people to be prosecuted by evidence that relies on black boxes.

Russia is mostly contained and I don’t really see how EU would consider them a threat. They aren’t stupid enough to attack an actual NATO member country. Trade being cut off with Russia is more of a threat to Europeans than their military.
