Is there currently much motivation for a given researcher to keep the data online somewhere after the paper is out? Who would handle the hosting? Have you had any luck emailing the author of the paper?

Straying a bit from the original topic: For amazon price tracking I've used this and it's pretty good: http://camelcamelcamel.com/ (They apparently cover some other retailers too.)

Patches welcome. Also, keep in mind that Apple themselves adopt existing open source projects for their own use. There's no reason a similar relationship couldn't exist here. And the hobbyist crowd they're currently targeting are unlikely t

I've never really understood tablets. I'm of the opinion that if I was going to carry around something too big to fit in a pocket, I might as well just make that thing a laptop.

It'd be nice they allowed secondary passwords for eg google talk. I don't much care for having to hand out my full credentials just to use things like bitlbee/meebo.

It doesn't communicate growth -- there is nothing to compare against. If you were going to do that, you'd simply provide a something like YOY% change in revenue. A run rate is just inflating/fabricating PAST revenue by speculating on the FU
