TLDraw is fascinating, but I feel like when I see them tweet cool stuff it isn’t actually in the app. This is likely me being dumb but since it happened a couple times now whenever I see their posts I assume the same.

This is very cool! I can't help but think the missing bit is portability of the data file. I wonder if simply allowing a a binary or even JSON representation to be copy pasted from the browser would work well enough.

We in the game industry use Parsec. It's free and amazingly low latency. Good enough to play games. How does this compare?

Steam reviews are becoming a pathological game for developers and players alike. At 8000 hours played, this guy should have the privilege of posting a review which is both more visible and less weighted in terms of good/bad. After a ce

Meta has stunted VR development by monopolizing the talent and the marketplace. They act like they are the benevolent stewards of the future metaverse, but just like with Facebook, all they want is to dominate and productize the world’s att

This feels different. It’s deception not overpromising or being late. It’s like if one day FSD drivers found out there was a human on the other end. I wouldn’t be shocked if there were now.

If I worked on Optimus I would be so angry about the decision to so this. Now nobody will trust the brand or the product. Stupid.

I always think about that Zuck quote where he called users who willingly uploaded their personal data “dumb f$cks” as we move into Meta’s increasing dominance of VR and now AR. Of COURSE they will use whatever data they can get.

I meant more like stock picking, day trading, etc. I don't think there are too many gambling addicts that would choose a whole market Vanguard ETF over, say, TSLA. :)

The fact that ESPN itself has a sports betting app tells you all you need to know about the perversion of sports now that gambling is blessed by the government. I think I can live with the legalization of sports betting if there are strong

If it were any other company, I'd be skeptical. Since it's Meta, I'm dead set against it from day 1.

The tools in Roblox are not that simple and are pretty geared towards technical people. They're cool! But in this case I think there are better ways to start.

Yeah we live in a progressive monoculture and apparently, progress means no phones in class. Parents and teachers are united.

Been a pro gamedev for 20+ years. You have a born game designer on your hands. It is important to not assume this means they are super interested in programming. They may be, but game design is its own thing. HN will skew you towards progra

Our local high school just instituted a no phones in class policy. When kids enter the classroom they put their phones in a numbered pocket on the wall. They retrieve it after class. The teachers are so happy.

Thanks for sharing that! I built something similar but I was talking directly to Spotify and outputting through the RasPi. I had no idea Sonos provided an http api. I thought they were locked down. Maybe worth another go!

That doesn't make any sense. Unity may have a pedigree of being for beginners, but in recent years they can barely keep current documentation on their new systems. This smells like a comment from someone who has never used it.

I think that's fair to look at it societally, but the concept of a collective goes up and down fractally. You have self, family, neighborhood, town, etc going up... and then going down you have organs, commensurable organisms, cells, g

All we need to see is a computer that operates itself according to what you ask it to do, and the hype will be back. For some reason nobody's really showing this, but it seems obvious. Maybe it's too dangerous.
