Don't bother with this book, at all. I'm just skimming through it and the author encourages the use of the font element, styling properties of elements like bgcolor. In other examples, he inlines CSS styles onto the elements — if that wasn'

Heh, HTML5. http://i.v3n.us/ASQf Guys, this is just a non-Flash version. But I guess blasting it out there with the HTML5 logo gets a lot more attention, at the cost of confusing non-techies about what HTML5 really is. And trust me, this

Sort of off-topic, but does anyone know why the hype around Spotify is so great? A few years ago, I started using Napster's streaming service. Then moved to Rhapsody for a slightly better interface/collection and mobile offline caching. The

What part of it is HTML5? http://i.v3n.us/8YeR EDIT: This is just plain 'ol CSS & JavaScript like we've been using for years. Unlike this implementation: http://arandomurl.com/2010/07/25/html5-pacman.html

I apologize for the following rant: 1) If you care about accessibility or SEO at all, this tool is not for you. 2) Once you begin an "app" using HYPE, you're locked into their platform. There's no feasible way to maintain rendered animation

I don't think jQuery is necessarily relevant in this discussion. This post is talking about JavaScript closures in general, regardless of whether or not it's DOM events or plain old callbacks.

Try it again. There were some minor bugs causing the thing to asplode. Seems to be fixed with the latest pull request. Also, you'll probably have to drop this thing on a virtual host. Local filesystem restrictions seem to break it also.

I think the volume of incorrect information is relevant here. Even though you may consider your <q> example to be "nit-picky", the sheer amount of poor examples and incorrect interpretations shouldn't go ignored. Not to mention atte

Isn't this what the data-* attributes should be used for though? Storing that kind of stuff in the `class` attribute seems semantically flawed. http://html5doctor.com/html5-custom-data-attributes/

I think that makes it even messier. Now we'll have 3 stages of prefixes: vendor specific, vendor agnostic, no prefix. And using something like a generic prefix also assumes all browser vendors are on the same page and agree that the spec ha

I guess PPK gets an auto-post on anything he writes. No prefix leaves us in a situation where we have to assume each vendor implemented the draft spec properly. In the case that one of them doesn't, we're left either omitting it completely
