Maybe it's not currently illegal, but shouldn't it be? Once in a lifetime news on a stock price about to go up sure sounds like material non public information to me.

Not a legal responsibility, an ethical one. Whether we like it or not, people tend to idolize public figures and believe what they say. When people regularly tune in to his show, they may be exposed to a certain topic / idea for the f

Any solutions for cross-platform text editing + rich layouts? Afaik that's where native apps really run into trouble, as solo developers don't want to spend time re-inventing the wheel. (Nor should they have to). Especially on L

It appears that there is no Linux support planned as part of the Window+Mac React Native? That would be an absolute shame, as one of the benefits of Electron is that I can run VS Code, etc. on Ubuntu. I'd gladly jump ship from Electro

The average person knows that a URL is a string that (for all intents and purposes) uniquely identifies a web page on the internet. There are some cases, like with Facebook/Google/YouTube, where they add a bunch of tracking info o

Learning measure theory has eliminated a lot of blind spots for me when it comes to stats / probability / ML. I find that I get "stuck" much less frequently when reading papers, and I'm able to better in the gaps w

I disagree with your definition of "market rate", but let's suppose you're right: Do you not see it as a problem that Google alone decides the cost of entry to an entire market?

If Google is willing to pay 200k above market rate to hire an employee from a competitor, chances are part of the "value" of that employee is that they will no longer be working for someone else. Yes, literally speaking, it's

I sure hope so. I have not agreed with this administration on hardly anything else, but I agree with this. The United States has its own dark history of censorship and oppression, but authoritarianism poses an even bigger threat. At the m

The rendering is all thanks to KaTeX, which is indeed great! Maybe it's not clear enough from the page, but the page is actually editable -- click anywhere and start writing. You can add new math by typing an expression like $x+y=z$.

Please add math support, too! KaTeX is a great drop-in option! If you do, please consider "first-class" math support, like the screencaps here [1]. Both block and inline math are important, and it's important to be able to

I would say that Roam Research inspired a mini-notetaking-boom! The reason is that it's based off a good idea, but it's very much a walled garden and the $15/mo price is very clearly aimed at attracting institutional license

EPUB is a non-starter for me as most e-readers haven't bothered to implement decent math support. We've had LaTeX math for decades now, come on people! Any HTML-based format like EPUB should be using KaTeX at a bare minimum, but

I think there is a risk of coming across as inflexible. A good manager adapts to the needs / strengths of their team members, and publishing a "this is how we do things here, deal with it" memo might send the wrong message.

Interesting, thanks for your perspective! Regarding speed, I suspect there might be more to the story since so many finance firms [1] are known to use Haskell internally. Perhaps they're not using it for anything speed-critical, thou

Any advice for learning to read the PL math notation? The PL papers I've seen normally take it for granted, so I don't even know what it's called to search for it! EDIT: Thank you all for the references :)

Yarc lists Roam as an inspiration, so I would like to mention an open-source alternative called Athens [1]. It's being actively developed and I imagine will soon eat Roam's lunch, given their unfortunate pricing model. [1] https
