Earlier this year I submitted a bug to VSCode about sorting Playwright tests in the alphabetical-and-numerical order that VSCode favours, after Playwright told me it was a VSCode issue. Some people rushed to fix this as I'd done some d

There's certainly some debate to be had about ingesting a book about vampires and then writing a book about vampires. But I think programming is much more "how to use the building blocks" and mathematics than ingesting narrat

Some licenses do. In my experience AI coding is not going to spew out a derivative of another project unless your objective is actually to build a derivative of that software. If your code doesn't do the same or look the same it doesn

I think it's because "JavaScript devs" encompasses everything from people building backends that have the infrastructure to manage this stuff, to static websites, desktop and mobile apps and games that don't necessarily

The real impact is app users aren't going to be herded towards paying a 30% fee on top of all digital content and services, forever, because the developers are banned from displaying, linking, or mentioning competing payment options. A

Hopefully the "Stop Killing Games" movement will create some formal obligations around those activation schemes too since it's pretty much the same problem from a different angle.

I think this is more a testament to how soundly mobile platforms have been gimped for software development in general, there is essentially zero mindshare for development upon these platforms even though the devices have become as powerful

Waiting another year. The Pro is interesting because of how much more usable it is for software with the better thermals and more RAM, but even with the DMA the software just hasn't proven exciting yet.

What I really hate about testing mocks is you're just testing mocks, eventually your entire suite is just testing one big abstraction effectively designed to pass. I've always preferred unit tests for core logic and "full sys

And to that note, Apple testified a 75% profit margin on these fees due to what the judge in the Epic case called out as limited investment in the review process or tools to improve it. Or as Phil Schiller called out years before that, &qu

This is a financial dead-end for almost everyone who tries it. You're not just looking for "market fit" you're also asking for "market tolerance", it's a very rare combination.

Imagine if you had to hire a designer if you wanted to build a web application or mobile app, at a cost of perhaps thousands or even tens of thousands. Would we be better off? I doubt it.
