But still, don't you think it's a little premature to judge your Target worker? Einstein was a patent worker while he thought about and conceptualized Special Relativity. Do you know what that fella' was doing in his free time? I still agre

Sounds pretty closed-minded, getting "set in the way" like that. ;)

I think the key to think about side projects, is that they're just that - projects on the side. If it starts taking up full-time hours and responsibility than it's not really a side project anymore. For me, I have my desk job. Then I have m

We only build the iOS and Android FB apps. You should check in with Microsoft on anything related to Windows 8. This quote kind of reinforces my point. She only named two mobile operating systems. Facebook in a browser isn't a web-app, it

He's talking about WP8, not really the desktop operating system. Those users are going to the browser anyways.

In my advertising classes in college we used to hear about these exact same "campaigns" people would do to get a job in the advertising world. It may work in the tech world, but I feel like this just adds clutter not value to the world. At

Exactly. Desoxyn is brand name for dextro-methamphetamine, the CNS-active stereo isomer. Levo-methamphetamine is found in those little Vicks nasal inhalers you stuff in each nostril to clear your sinuses.

Didn't know you meant visual(design and interaction). Still though, it's a little frustrating to say they've stagnated. Apple is very, very long-term focused.

A lot of people didn't know about this until recently though, like me. I'm not in any danger from Sandy right now, though and still want them to be able to submit. Obviously a deadline extension would be positive for me, but I was prepared

Apple Inc. executive Scott Forstall was asked to leave the company after he refused to sign his name to a letter apologizing for shortcomings in Apple's new mapping service, according to people familiar with the matter. That's their justi

I feel like this is the sort of situation that shouldn't even be featured in the discussion. Who else signed the press report? It's totally irrelevant.

You think voice integration isn't interaction? That's literally a form of interaction with the device that was not there in iOS 1.

You're right too, but that's a better move than a preemptive apology. They have the "report a problem" feature in the Maps app too, so it should help organically grow. I do miss Scott Forstall on stage, he was a good presenter.

I don't know about that PR move you suggested. It's not very becoming of the market leader to publicly express that their own product that hasn't launched yet, and won't for 3 months, is buggy and incomplete - and to be patient with them wh

I totally agree. It's amazing what a little bit of thought into the problem can do when designing a logo. There's gonna' be a lot of cookie-cutter logos in competitions like this - but one with insight and aesthetic taste is hard to come by

Maybe. Understanding metacognition and how best you, yourself, learn can have major strides in your own knowledge accumulation. Sometimes working harder at something isn't always the best solution. Sometimes the problem needs to be flipped

Part of the reason I don't even use storyboards is because of its lack of good UIView manipulation. I do a lot of things in container views and scrollviews that add UIViews as subviews. For the type of UI I'm looking for, storyboarding real

Meh, I was making the point to try and raise concern for the other side of the perceived "coin" of product creation, as it applies to software. I would never hire a programmer for $5 - I program everything myself, just like I design everyth

As a fellow designer, I always cringe at stuff like this too. What if I hired a programmer for $5 to write a few web services that could scale to infinity? Luckily, I've taken the time and still take the time to improve on both of these qua

Yeah but it's a little bit trickier than that. If Facebook does things that alienate users, then those products will walk off the shelf - and not into someone's shopping cart.

Just abstract the phrase to what you mean. Are you half-assed doing what you like the most, or trying to do it better than everyone else?
