What product category do you expect Apple to jump into? The only viable one I can think of is wearable tech, and definitely not a damn watch. I think Apple won't cater to as niche a market as wearable medical, and let 3rd party use the

So many other languages use JSON as a data format that keeping a weird constructor call in there would do more harm than good. Especially since you can keep the formatting code in your codebase and invoke that when you need to use that prop

Those both look pretty awesome - great suggestion! I might just purchase some because of your suggestion. I absolutely loathe using plastic wrap haha.

I was genuinely asking in my question above. I'm all for it as long as it makes sense. I've never messed with aliasing or anything like that - I'm decently fluent in Objective-C but have only really dabbled in ruby/js. A

That's an interesting point. I've never done that (only an amateur at ruby) with a class before besides #defines, which just feels like bad juju. Another good thing about the Obj-C de facto way is that you can immediately tell wha

How would you refactor a third party library delivered as a binary in a language with namespaces?

If a cool library you want also has a class named NSArray, then you just refactor it by renaming on import like you just mentioned. It's literally the exact same thing as what you're saying. Say I have one library in my project al

The namespaces are inherent in the class name. It's actually a very nice solution. Instead of this Foundation::Array we get NSArray. Way easier to type out, and looks a million times cleaner to me.

Sometimes the simplest way is to use a "cool" language feature. For instance: say you have an app with 30 different ViewControllers, and you need them to respond to the same notification. Sure, you could go back and refactor every

Do you also think that a mobile app programmer who can't design is a waste? They are also a one-skill queen, unable to implement and create a product .

When I bought a .io domain through them they tossed in a free SSL certificate. Not sure if this promotion is still happening, but it helped persuade me to go with them.

I live in Alabama and it's a beautiful state. You are always within 6-8 hours of driving from a beach or mountains. The state undergoes three major geological changes as you go from North to South, leaving some really nice, natural sce
