I have always used Pascal for those reasons, and fast compilation speed FreePascal only does safe optimizations. (unless it has bugs where it does work at all)

Unfortunately, classes teaching C often start with telling people that with C they learn how the real machine and the real CPU works on the lowest levels.

I benchmarked dozens hashmaps when building my own programming language in Pascal Such an 2-array insertion order map turned out to be one of the fastest maps I was a little bit surprised

I had that problem after working a year on my open source projects. Then I went to get a PhD. I thought it would be flexible enough that I could keep working on oss. But there was no time for that. If it had been in a similar field, I could

When I was a teenager I finished a dozen software projects Closed-source games for Windows 98 It was absolutely perfect. Closed-source, no one comes and complains they cannot compile anymore when the compiler and the library headers change.

That is the problem with JSON. XML worked much better for integers. And if it is typed with XML schema or XPath, XML has an xs:unsignedLong integer type. I wrote my own command line XPath JSON-query tool and used bigdecimals for JSON numbe

It became harder In the past you could write a straightforward parser for the pages you had. When it did not work on some other pages, you could say, that page has invalid HTML, it is not expected to be parseable. Now you have to spend a lo
