Yeah, that would certainly have slowed me down too if I'd experienced that. I haven't had any of these issues. Fingers crossed! And hopefully they're working on stability.

They don't really need to add anything, because you can just use a GitHub Action that run "flyctl deploy". Here is Fly.io's guide to the 15 lines of YAML you can use to do that: https://fly.io/docs/a

Only 1 out of 4 URLs in the test was static. The others are rendered HTML templates (using Go's html/template -- I'll update the article to make that clearer), and one page does two SQL queries. Note that my load test wasn&#x

They're not really type annotations (because Forth is still basically untyped), but stack effect annotations. They're just a comment in parentheses that tells human readers of the code how many items are consumed/produced and

That's true, but previously the PaaSs I've looked at didn't seem to have the same concept of persistent volumes, or maybe they were costly, I forget. In any case, I tried on Heroku before, and one other provider, and they did

That's what I do now. But there's a bunch more setup: - Install and configure Caddy to terminate the SSL. Caddy is great, but still stuff to think about and 20 lines of config to figure out. - Configure systemd to run Caddy and my

Just this morning I was wondering about where to host the next iteration of my side project (GiftyWeddings.com). It currently uses Go + SQLite, and I deploy it to a small $9/month instance on AWS, but the setup involves a bunch more An

A missing robots.txt has always meant "allow all", so it would be really weird for this to be the cause. Robots.txt is primarily for dis allowing (or really, discouraging) crawlers from crawling certain paths.

Yeah, my comment there more or less sums up the thought I've put in so far. AWK doesn't really have nested data structures, but a lot of JSON / JSON lines is fairly flat, so it may work. It shouldn't be too hard ... thou

Hehe, thanks. Yeah, I was on the fence about posting it the last time, thinking "Hmmm, am I promoting my own project too much?" But I've tried to only do it in very relevant contexts or when people ask and it would solve that

The frawk implementation (not quite POSIX, but extremely fast) and my GoAWK implementation both have an "-i csv" option that puts it in "input mode CSV". More here: https://benhoyt.com/writings/goawk

Yeah, they're both languages which are quite unlike C in operation, but both (by design) use C-like syntax to be more familiar to existing developers. I think AWK has survived incredibly well for a language that's 46 years old.

Thanks for the plug (I'm the author of GoAWK). Yeah, I'm hoping the CSV feature will really be useful for data science and the like. There are so many CSVs pushed around these days. See more here: https://benhoyt.com&#x

It's because that first invocation of sort is sorting the entire input (413MB), not just the unique words (less than a MB). The sort is probably O(NlogN), but that's a big N. Counting by inserting into a hash table is much faster,
