As I mentioned on proggit, that URL doesn't actually demonstrate cross-site scripting , but it looks like the page is vulnerable to iframe and scripting insertion too. Example: http://www.apple.com/itunes/affiliates/download/?artistNa

OTOH, I always find it refreshing when websites don't use tiny 10px fonts -- the "I've taken a graphic design course, and I think small fonts are cool" thing. In other words, 23px might be a bit big, but it's better than too small, at least

True (thanks). Though illegal != sexist. Also: asking it might be many other things, but why is it "unreasonable"?

Yes, but two things: 1) as I mentioned, the fact that they might ask the woman and not the man is simply due to the fact that more mums stay at home than dads, and 2) why is it devaluing her to ask that? Anyone who's got kids knows that rai

I'm wondering why it's sexist (devaluing one sex) to ask who is going to take care of the kids. Isn't it quite possible it's concern for their family situation (because work affects family)? A guy probably wouldn't be asked this simply beca

Very good. The 25->8 word exercise was a good little demo. Though I smiled when I saw "if you can spell ... int main(int argc; char* argv[]);" -- his first semicolon should be a comma in C. Also: the world is (more or less) spherical, n

I see he's using Ajax to call his API to unshorten the URL. This is fine, but wouldn't it be faster (and less load on his server) if the JavaScript tried to follow the link directly, and looked at the Location header in the response? Or can

Note that on http://www.mathim.com/translate/ when you type anything with a slash in it (eg: "x/2") it tries to go to http://www.mathim.com/translate/x/2 and fails, presumably because it's trying to interpret the slash as a directory se

Heh, I do have young children. :-) However, surely there's more to it than that, because plenty of people with young kids get sick less often than I.

PostgreSQL stores everything in flat files too (on Windows, in a directory like "C:\Program Files\PostgreSQL\8.1\data\base\100929"), and I'm guessing MySQL would too.

Meta HN discussion: this problem often crops up when people are doing "rate my startup" type posts. They want to post an intro blurb for HN people, so they can't link to the website. Does this smell of a feature waiting to be added to HN, o
