I found it thoughtful and thought provoking. I agree that it seems too unlikely and irrational and unnecessary - and quite rude to speculate, given Occam’s razor - that Altman actually had someone killed.

Tangent, but.. It must’ve picked up the faux profoundness on LinkedIn. Those posts I find truly unreadable. It half seriously makes me think anyone being able to post anything was a bad move.

I understand the sentiment, but.. do you realize how much more expensive that would make all these services? I don’t know the number. But personally I think using the services and ‘simply’ only use them if the disappearance isn’t catastroph

Back of the envelope I did one time told me i could earn more by picking up cans off the street and trading them for the deposit. Still, it would feel nice - after the initial cost- to have very cheap power (only charge when cheap).

Maybe you’re right in terms of true broad adoption, but I’m also curious about whether there’s a sustainable (and slowly growing) market in other market segments. Maybe vr gaming is it? I hope so because I’d like to see the platform grow fr

Didn’t Intel also try to brand the 64bit x86 extensions as ia-32e initially? Seemed like wasting an opportunity to me. (Disclaimer: I work at Intel but this was way before my tenure.)

Worse, IMO, is the never taken branch taking up space in branch prediction buffers. Which will cause worse predictions elsewhere (when this branch ip collides with a legitimate ip). Unless I missed a subtlety and never taken branches don’t

I agree. (And believe me, I don’t enjoy fooling myself into believing a better outcome than can be expected.) so far my experience is that AI assistants are a tremendous help, but it still feels like programming and still needs a programmer

Interesting. George hotz has said his motivation to start tinygrad was the worry that nvidia would be nationalized.

I share the instinct. but I think we might be wrong directionally. Looking at history, every time a tool automated part of our work (I’m thinking of calculators, high-level languages, libraries, frameworks) people warned that skipping funda

Just to add to this, people say the same about eg citizen Kane being such a classic but without the context of it having genre defining firsts, the film doesn’t stand out as much to a modern viewer.

Oh hey, Pim de Witte! For those unaware, this is a very interesting guy, because he stumbled on (creating, through his business Medal) a valuable AI dataset that - by offering to buy his company - reportedly OpenAI offered him 500M for. Th

This is a tangent, because it clearly didn’t pan out, but I had hope for rust having an edge when I learned about how all objects are known to be immutable or not. This means all the mutable objects can be held together, as well as the immu

I played a Legends MUD game on a BBS, could that be it? I’ve looked for it for years on and off and finally found it recently. With text files, and Even the executables and database to run it. Could that be it? I’ll dig it up if so..
