Second for Real-Time Rendering. As far as I am aware, it's the closest thing to a foundational book on GPU programming for realtime 3D.

I consider myself lucky that I haven't had to work with any pair programming tools in the last 15 years. I have, sadly, had to work with numerous waterfall, agile, scrum, and TDD tools. (I refer to their proponents.)

I agree that 'inequality' is too simplistic a concept to adequately describe what the problem is in the US. I believe the real problem is more that the stresses a poor person must contend with to hold down even the smallest apartm

Randians / Grahamians here always seem quick to echo that 'wealth isn't zero sum'. (I presume this is to help those who are or aspire to be wealthy feel awesome about their noble path.) Wealth may not be zero sum, but we

Listening to music as I move through my day is sublime. I fucking hate the rest of you, so if people think I am merely detached, I come out way ahead.

In my experience, it is very common for the recruiter and/or HR person to suggest what you should wear. If they don't, I would think it somewhat safer not to wear a suit to most tech interviews. (As much as I know y'all want

I don't know. I think there's a variation of what he said that I'd agree with. Based on experience, my general opinion of medical doctors (good surgeons excepted) is pretty low. Like meteorologists, their heads may be filled

I realize this is at least partly tongue-in-cheek, but at 36 I'm not really afraid of death. I am, however, rather terrified of aging further , since that's a thing that's happening right now. It's become very current i

I hope that someday, saying garbage like this is considered the same as saying that women aren't as good at math as men, or black people aren't as hardworking as the chinese.

Terry, why do you regularly use racially charged language? I understand your meaning fine, I'm just curious whether there's any specific reason you use racial language so much, or if it's just sort of one of your things.

I once cared about a job to the point of damaging my mental health. I haven't made that mistake since. I did, however, rather stupidly accomplish the same thing, years later, by caring too much about an entrepreneurial venture.

I don't think either wealth disparity or unemployment are themselves direct problems. I think the huge and fundamental problem, which is a problem even in a so-called 'rich' country like the US, is access to the basics of hum

People seem to get a premium on their perceived 'time' spent at MS for being earlier employees, which often correlates with how important a system they worked on.

I'd say you're completely full of shit. Suicide is hard, and, contrary to the propaganda about it, takes a great deal more courage than, say, skydiving.

No, the sense of the comment is completely wrong-headed with respect to probability. The probability that a sequence occurred is 1. The probability that the 10-10-10.... sequence mentioned has occurred is indeed as close to zero as the 76
