No Sponsorblock (so doesn't block ads by creators themselves, the cliches like NordVPN/SquareSpace etc. you have to manually skip) They also keep upping the price every so often. SmartTube is free. I had YouTube Premium via a VPN

Grooveshark, that's a name I've not heard in a while... But even Spotify are putting the price up this year. I bet if something like that happened, it'd quickly soar to $0.2 an episode in the next year, then slowly creep up m

Yes, no ads from Google's side and ads by creators themselves (e.g. Raid Shadow Legends, SquareSpace, Manscaped, NordVPN etc. etc.) get skipped via a community-sourced database called Sponsorblock. https://sponsor.ajay.app&#

But that's a conspiracy theory! Why would they ever do that? ... come back to this comment in a year.

Too many services nowadays. Was fine when it was just Netflix, had mostly everything, no ads, full quality. Nowadays Netflix price has gone up, additional plans for 4K/no-ads, anti-account sharing and less content as content now has go

SmartTube on Android TV. Brilliant, makes YouTube usable, Sponsorblock baked in.

Conspiracy theories nowadays are about a year away from being conspiracy fact. Digital ID is being HEAVILY pushed by the Labour government in the UK. Scary times.

Top tip, if you're in a hotel room you can often put any card like item (e.g. loyalty card) into the slot and it still works. This works at a lot of chain hotels. Not every hotel, but a lot of them. In the UK this works in most Premier

No, only if you're outside of the UK or if it's an international break when international teams are playing (World Cup, Euros etc.) on a Saturday at 3pm. Outside the blackout games are on TV as per usual.

I think there is a general support but it is weaning with people skirting around the rules nonchalantly, and TV companies wanting to make more money. It is a running joke of people "going to France for the day" in fanbases (code f

To answer your last question, yes. You would have to go watch your local lower non-league team if you wanted to watch football. I suspect your London friends are using VPNs and/or illegal streams, or simply just following scores or wat

The idea is that between around 3pm and 6pm every Saturday, outwith international breaks when international teams play (e.g. World Cup), no TV station in the UK is allowed to air live football. 3pm is the main kick off time. The idea is tha

A lot of hotels I've been to recently have a HDMI port baked into the row of plugs and switches above the desk. Handy. Might be worth getting a male to female HDMI extension cable to make it easier to plug in.

If you go into any pub in the UK and say fire stick, people assume it's not legit content you're using one for. They're infamous for allowing people to watch football (soccer!) games illegally on Saturday at 3pm when the TV b

All Amazon apps are buggy and broken. The Amazon shopping app is awful, a bunch of put together web pages hanging on for dear life. Amazon optimise for sales and metrics over anything else.

They may as well stop selling them. I doubt many people are going to buy a Fire Stick to watch Prime and Netflix when you already can on any standard Smart TV. It's harder to buy a dumb TV now than it is a smart one. Never mind if you

They'll find another Android based device to use instead. The main reason, at least around the people I know, people buy Fire Sticks is to watch football/soccer at 3pm on a Saturday (there's a UK wide blackout to encourage fa

For Tinder if you're on desktop you can use the website (tinder.com), don't believe that blocks selecting text.

In some ways a good thing, no? Shows you've got work to do on optimisation for large audiences. A free stress test (unless you're on a host that charges per hit or bandwidth excess), as you will. Did load eventually for me, though

Looks cool, but definitely a security team's nightmare. Putting an API key into some random HN'ers hobby project is a bad, bad idea, whoever you are (not saying you're a bad actor, but a zero-trust policy would agree with me)

I'll drink to that. More state sponsored propoganda to make us miserable. They don't like you having a few drinks with friends and speaking truths. It makes you hard to control and govern.

Microsoft Edge on Android now also supports some extensions, one being uBlock Origin. Seems just as powerful as the real thing. And has the benefit of using the Chrome engine.

It's a shame the Pixels don't have IR sensors. One of the most underrated features that some Androids have - I was in a hotel in Poland this year and it had Aircon in the room (and was rather warm), but there was no remote. The IR
