Two big problems with automated spam blocking are: false positives and changing domain names. For the second one, how often do you revise your blocked links? what if it changed owner and the new one doesn't provide spam. For the first one,

This article takes something funny and turns it into an insightful article without being a bitch about it (I found it quite humorous). You're all hating too much.

Thanks. I also thought so myself, though it would look and maybe sound awkward with the parentheses, the original phrase should have precedence. PS. I just read my comment noticed I may have come off as a Grammar Nazi or something like that

Kind of an unrelated question. But the phrase without the text inside the parentheses would be "How to write a Interpreter". Wouldn't "An" be a better choice? In this case, what is the best option? to be faithful to the original sentence, o

Lots of congratulating and patting in the back amongst Hacker News Users Is there any tradition establsished for Programmer's Day? We should maybe try to follow in the steps of whyday and say: "It's your day, be creative with your code an

I think every company learns somewhat from its failures, but I love how valve is really nonchalant about it. Their failures are not this grand secret they're trying to protect. They know they're not perfect, they deal with it and they work

I think this may be because of in-app purchases. So you can distribute a free "full but locked" app, and then just add functionality with in-app purchases. Maybe they're trying to promote that?

This made me think a bit about Bill Gates and Microsoft and Everything. People really hate on Bill Gates because of Microsoft and their products, but after seeing this email you get to see that he's as angry as any other user, and even more

Hey, but don't you know it's chic to hate google right now? People love complaining, but not so much helping. I see a lot of people saying why it's wrong but I dont' see fewer people making proposals. And I think the general message in the

I say, great solution Mozilla! Advanced users can toggle it on/off. Mortal users won't know it's there. Mortal users are the ones that regularly are better off not knowing. I on the other hand, prefer to see exactly who's updating and what

Is anyone else but me worried about the legibility of the CSS with Data URIs? I mean, I can see how it can be useful, but I think the code is more readable with "spritesheet.png" than with: iVBORw0KGgoAAAANSUhEUgAAAAoAAAAKCAYAAACNMs+9AAAAB

When I was a high school student, a friend found a brute force attack that worked on the machine in our campus (ie. kicking it right below where the coins go). I can say he reached a similar result.

This is true. My only bug with apple right now is the lack of transparency in the App Store Submission Process. The rest is really their decision, the hacking community is relatively free to do what they want, and apple knows it's good for

I don't know. As a fan of CSS I don't really "get" Less.js ... Sure I understand the benefit of defining certain properties, but are the benefits good enough to warrant depending on an additional javascript library for something like this?

If the thing is allow more simplicity for regular users, I think this is OK, unless someone finds a way to trick the system so it lets someone install something that isn't signed, and someone will. Probably. For boxes that need more securit

This whole open courseware trend is awesome. My university is doing a project to open its courses too, but focused more on helping south-american universities (I'm from Mexico, so yeah, spanish).
