This is actually the question the product answers. A lot of graphic designers like to start designing on paper, then move to Illustrator or PS for the final work. The classic way to do this is to scan in your sketch and make it a layer, and

I worked for Wacom up until 4 months ago, and I was involved in the development of this product. I'm not sure how much I can talk about this without violating NDA, but I'll try. Normal Wacom tablets use electromagnetic resonance (EMR) to b

The largest benefit you can expect to get from compiling 64-bit is the ability to address more memory. Performance is a bad reason, unless you need extra floating-point precision or your problem is highly vectorized, and you just doubled th

As a father of two, I heart this idea. This takes the budgeting headache away from the manager, and is completely fair. It implies that every developer is responsible for his/her own workstation maintenance, though, and that might be a ris

I think you're straw-manning the premise. He's not talking about the difference between a '10 MBP and an '11 MBP, more like the difference between a mid-to-high-end '08 MBP running Leopard and a mid-to-high-end '11 workstation running Lion.

Leadership and management are orthogonal. There are managers who couldn't lead their team out of a paper bag, and there are great leaders with "Intern" on their business cards. More importantly, there are leaders who aren't even _good_ at m

As a Windows git user, this is a minor concern. msysgit works from cmd, powershell, and the include bash prompt, and the gitk and "git gui" tools are actually pretty good once you're familiar with the metaphors. The one thing that still giv

Well, you either have to publish your member variables and their names to the world, or use PIMPL, which is (I think) a bit of a hack. Having partial classes (a la C#) would be nice for this.

With a capacitive device, it's possible to detect things like fingers some distance away from the surface, but the signal is so noisy that you get a lot of false positives. The endpoint of all this stuff seems to be the Minority Report UI (

Granted this isn't an issue for most mainstream users, but this would put my company (Wacom) out of business. Not all input devices are keyboards or mice; not all applications can get by with only network and limited disk access. Not all co
