Question for anyone really: how many different websites did you visit today, and how many different apps did you use today? Is that number even remotely equal? Do you think you'd ever want as many as the former as apps installed on you

Can't we just fork the w3? Start using Firefox and forget about these people. Oh I'm sorry your browser is a little slower, but at least it's not Google made.

Cool, but I'd say Go is easy to learn. You can power through the spec, read Effective Go, figure out the go tools and GOPATH and be on your way. There's so little cruft. Go is limited in some ways, but the benefit is how simple it

I can't read this article without resizing my browser window. Fluid text width is awful. And yes wikipedia has the same problem.

When I predict that VR will trump reality I never mean to imply a virtual happy Utopia or that such a thing was inevitable. Our future might be a virtual dystopia for all I know, but virtual reality is my bet where most intelligent beings e

In the future, I think that even when we end up interacting with the real world we'll have a virtual one mapped over it, ala alternate reality stuff. Check out Rainbows End for what I mean there. We can't stop interacting with the

If you don't want Target to have your data don't give it to them. That's it. Do you need the government to prevent you from giving your data to Target?

I was the direct manager for software engineers at a big public hosting company. Being a line manager was miserable. I thought going into management I'd have more ability to influence things but I had less. I had no time to write code,

I spent about 6 months in management and it was the worst experience in my career. I will never do that again. I'm back to writing code. I don't know why anyone would want to be a manager.
