I summarize HN threads, blog posts, YT videos, etc. to see if the content is worth my time. So far I've used Perplexity extension.

Plus, with Latex you can use LLMs as assistants and they do a great job thanks to so much Latex data they've seen in training.

when this tool has "FakeBold"[0] like Latex has, I'll make the switch. [0]: https://x.com/OrganicGPT/status/1920202649481236745/photo/1

What are some other companies like that? The ones that have an MBA-driven anti-user mindset IMO: Apple, Google, Microsoft, Meta, Oracle, Adobe, Nvidia, AMD

I think the pydantic library has something similar that involves validating streaming JSON from large language models.

I agree. I lost hope in Apple's AI "efforts" when I found out that their MLX team (responsible for making a Pytorch/CUDA alternative for Apple Silicon) DOES NOT have access to the source code of ANE (Apple Neural Engine)

Is my understanding correct that Lisp's powerful macro system stems from the ability to write the eval function in Lisp itself? From what I gather, Lisp starts with a small set of primitives and special forms—seven in the original Lisp

Thanks, I'll try it! I guess "mixing" GPU+CPU would hurt the perf tho.

right, all benchmarks collapse once you go beyond 32K tokens. I've rarely seen any benchmarks focusing on long range, which is where most programming needs are at.

> No sign of what source material it was trained on though right? out of curiosity, does anyone do anything "useful" with that knowledge? it's not like people can just randomly train models..

it's got more 'source' than whatever OpenAI provides for their models.

unrelated note: your blog is nice and I've been following you for a while, but as a quick suggestion: could you make the code blocks (inline or not) highlighted and more visible?

what are the use cases for llm, the CLI tool? I keep finding tgpt or the bulletin AI features of iTerm2 sufficient for quick shell scripting. does llm have any special features that others don't? am I missing something?

I never had good experience with RAG anyway, and it felt "hacky". Not to mention most of it basically died when most models started supporting +1M context. LLMs are already stochastic. I don't want yet another layer of random
