I had friends up (Greens) in midish July and we were talking about taking the trip over to the Shire to do Mt. Washington the following day or two... until we checked the summit forecast: temps in the 30s and wind chills around 15F. Instead

Even if it is just 2K (I think closer to 3), that is 5% of their $40K that could go towards food, healthcare and rent (or mortgage).

I hope you realize that the people that are feeling "stressed" are not just the ones making minimum wage but also those making considerably more yet, somehow not managing to make ends meet.

Is there a reason they can't use the internet that is available from their phone data plan?

So many, many HOAs and condo assocs. are poorly managed and have no capital plans (I even had a condo once where the agreement prohibited a capital fund!). Two points - first to yours on it being more difficult to sell. In fact, it can b

Home internet is a luxury if you already have a data plan on your phone to accomplish the necessities - that is for access to government and corporate web sites and educational (school related) needs. Social media, in its basic forms are te

That is not always an easy thing to do and every HOA will vary. In general it will usually require a very high number (like 80%) of owners to agree, there are often multi-year waiting periods and sometimes poison pills which offer common a

Americans confuse need with 'nice to have' which leads to the "I don't have money for food/rent/hc" problem. You do not need cable tv or home internet. You do not need an iPhone or top end Samsung. There

I'm not sure where the original guy got the idea that the bills are uniform in the interior. Seems just as likely that the visible faces of the cube are "display" with an interior backing cube (say out of thin plywood) insid

Similar take. The UI and lift explanations are nice but the lift selections (when even available) are a bit dubious at best. In some cases, sub-optimal, in other cases out of left field. My personal suggestion would be to populate the data

That is production, not R&D. Basic research into, for instance, semiconductors may one day lead to the production of a new product. The R&D costs would be amortized, the eventual production costs would not.

Bloomstink has a short article on R&D expenses/tax credits as does Reuters on some of the back and current history. But just as an accounting note: R&D expense has nothing to do with the company having revenues for an existing

I've taken photos on and off for decades. Too many here seem to be, much like everything else these days, all or nothing. With just a little bit of common sense/discipline it is pretty easy to balance the taking of photos with t

A lot of the "elite" compsci students at my college in the early-ish 80s were still using TECO on our DECSYSTEM 2060 but some of the cool-kids were trying that new Emacs thing ;) Me, being just a lowly compsci minor, prefered the

Totally disagree. Lecture is an opportunity to directly ask your professor to clarify the material or perhaps extend to an adjacent area. It is also an opportunity to learn from your classmates who may pose insightful questions or comment
