A bit late on this, but have to wonder what fire departments think about this roof/panel? How difficult will it be to vent a roof? Will the roof present an electrical risk to firemen (even assuming there is a cut off below) Unfortun

That 5% rate only applies if you fully utilize the margin for the entire year. If you do not, and do not drop out of the gold tier when not using the margin, your effective rate sky rockets. As to IB, again my point was there is a trade of

Their margin rates are very high at best and potentially usury at worst. They are counting on you not using the full amount of margin on the tier you paid for and further, counting on you being too lazy to downgrade to a lower (or no) tier

Hmm... something funky going down in Quemado? Experiments at the lightning farm? If you haven't done the self-guided tour of the VLA, you've just not lived yet! Though it was pretty cool seeing the all out there (highly recomme

Somewhat tangential, really glad people do this type of thing. I have an app (Scanner Radio) and I have it set to trigger an alert when a channel hits a predefined number of listeners, aka something bad going down.

No, it did not swell to 246B. Or are we not counting the debt and other obligations they have issued to pay out dividends and do share buybacks? This has been their game for a while now so to trumpet the asset side in isolation is dising

Mid 2013 I built my current workstation with the E3-1245 v3 ($290) that had just come out, maxed the ram out at 32GB. Been rock solid, great performer and expect to be using it for quite a few years more. The prior system was an again max

I think there are good points there about offline participation and archival. I would expect that 99.9% of those on HN have at one time or another found an answer via a direct forum/message list archive or off a google search result r

In a time long ago, a place far away, I did some COBOL. Wasn't even on IBM. Fortran too. But it might take more than a time machine to make me COBOL Cowboy.

Any feel on how the Sony's IAP140 ARM53 processor stacks up against the A9 in the reMarkable? Little I could find seems to indicate edge still with the A9. The Sony also has 16GB vs 8B storage, 11GB usuable, not sure how much of that 8

Have to call BS on this article. The same failure to beat will apply to RSP, an equal weight s&p 500 that has outperformed the traditional cap weighted index.

As noted in the article, its only a violation if you fail to identify yourself after being arrested. What is not clear to me is whether it is sufficient to just give your name? I often go out without my wallet and I'm not sure why the

It is a shame that this is just being discussed for use by fiber. If they are going to dig up the roads, you need to put in multiple types of conduit for use by telecom, electric, water, etc.

As an author and publisher using Lightning source, I would argue that our print on demand books are equal to those of any major publisher and better than many I pull off shelves in bricks and mortar dealers.

I'm not sure if it is still true on Win 10, but earlier versions started to perform terribly if you had no swap on the boot partition, regardless of how much core you had.
