If you can make whatever out of diamond, I want cooking ware. You can watch the stuff cook, it's insanely heat conductive, and very resistent to scratches, so no problem using a sharp pointed fork to stir a bit. Problem 1: induction c

Sorry for the confusion; I don't find it amusing at all for the size, but for the irregularities.

I found it amusing to learn about the Australian time zones: Australia is basically divided into three parts, which could be very nicely +8, +9 and +10, except it is +8, +9:30 and +10. OK. Except that in the south, two of the three zones

And again, my favorite accidental usages of undefined behaviour in C++ are optimised into BS. (1) if (this == NULL): this is super useful in non-virtual functions, because NULL is the object that subclasses all classes, so the only universa

+1 for -fno-delete-null-pointer-checks But actually, what I'd rather like is -fno-optimise-based-on-undefined-behaviour.

The DS3231 RTC clock chip indeed has an accurate crystal oscilator inside the package, so, yeah, put em in an AVR why not!

One thing that bugged me: why is he using DVD-Rs? I (almost) haven't used such ancient technology in years. Many modern computers don't even have DVD drivers. And then with hand-written labels on then. WTF? Those can be found

People should learn what the problem is, not focus on patterns. They should learn that some patterns exist (merely) to overcome limitations of Java or C++ (like the el primo Visitor Pattern or the Singleton). They should understand those

If Rust misses 'goto', it is not suitable for translating SSA into it, which most compilers natually produce (also for LLVM, obviously). I.e., it is not suitable for being used in a compiler backend. Here, it can never fully rep

I switched from Cherry G80-3000 with Querty where I was very fast, to a Kinesis with Dvorak. I had some RSI problems so I made a very hard cut switching both keyboard and layout at the same time. The keys of the Kinesis (soft click) are n

This is absolutely insane. In the best possible sense of that word. I've always known I will never know C++ properly, as it is such a complex language. (Too complex I think.) I learned a few things from your insane stories. Thank

OMG. I have yet to see a working implementation of 'delete' from Sedgewick. Further, a repaired delete (from the description on the slides) will rotate back an forth horribly. Awful stuff, awful reasoning. Symmetric RB trees a
