I personally think spam is speech, and it should be protected speech. I'm not a fan of spam being censored on social media. People should be able to say as much as they want on the internet

Yeah, polymorphism is in no way simple in lots of languages/frameworks. It's actually quite complex in many common languages/frameworks. This is absolutely contradictory in my opinion, but I welcome disagreement :)

The more that education becomes monetarily inaccessible to the masses, the more the masses will reject the educated. And then god help us.

Well, certainly that would be a logical argument, but it isn't a sound argument and I can give a few examples: a long time ago, people gave out bitcoin for free to anyone that wanted it. I personally received 0.05 BTC back around 2010

You do not need objective truths to use deductive logic. That statement shows that you fundamentally misunderstand deductive logic. You simply need premises (i.e. assumptions) to make use of deductive logic in a standard logical system. Tho

Certainly that's incorrect, actual logic is used throughout virtually all sciences to deduce conclusions using methods of proof. The reason we're able to deduce many core truths of reality is by relying on both observation and log

"Give me 1btc and I'll send you 3btc back" is not logically refutable in the strictest sense of "logic". It's obvious, socially/culturally, that this is a scam; why would anyone give people money after the

The proof of the burden as to why this website should force all communication to be public is on you. HTTPS exists and configuring it is simple in this era, and the choice to not use it for a university's public website is either lazin

Sure I'd be glad to elaborate. Why should we make any personal details about our lives public information if it doesn't need to be? Do you go around announcing all the things that you do in your life that are seemingly harmless? S

Is there any reason to be so sarcastic here, other your desire to engage in bad faith here? There are good reasons to make the paths that people request on public websites private to the client & server, even when that content is seemin

There's more to HTTPS than just data integrity promises. One of the most popular topics on Hacker News is privacy, so I'd imagine people here would understand why virtually all public websites should be HTTPS only.

I still use a Pixel 2 as my phone and I had no idea it was EoL. I've been using this thing for more a year after it is apparently not getting security updates. That's extremely fucked up that this isn't communicated to users.
