Until the public markets start valuing these companies on earnings and cash flow instead of sales, expect more of the same.

Fun tidbit I read while searching for more info about these people. Evidently, some explorers sat in their boat just offshore in 1970 as some of the male warriors were on the beach. The explorers threw the men some gifts but refused to leav

Phew - I agree. Just making sure I'm not completely insane here, and frankly the hero worship of him is really starting to creep me out. I worry that too many people blindly see this as getting back at THE MAN without giving enough con

In all seriousness, is there even a single HN commenter who doesn't support/worship this guy? Is the diversity of thought that nonexistent on this subject? I'm just sorta curious and ask the question sincerely.

It's still a mystery why they couldn't comprehend that they were in a stall though. The captain did the math when the co-pilot told him he'd be pulling back the whole time: descending rapidly plus nose up = they were in a sta

To some extent these chain of command cultural issues (or whatever you want to call them) are unavoidable and show up in most airlines. The worst aviation disaster in history could largely be chalked up to this problem. Two 747's colli

The behavior of the co-pilot was so incomprehensibly baffling in this crash. Pulling back on the stick is like an economist mixing up supply and demand curves. I dont think anyone has ever been able to figure out why the co-pilot never thou

The opinions on HN regarding Snowden are so lamentably one-note in unconditional support that I really dont have the strength to articulate my counterargument. What's the point? I probably agree with many others who feel the same so I&

While it's not a popular view on HN (to say the least), I am hugely looking forward to Snowden spending the rest of his life rotting in federal pound-me-in-the-ass prison.

I think FB's usefulness breaks down as you get older. It's helpful to understand the average FB user. They're young. They're in high school and college. They probably dont have work friends, random old acquaintances, etc...no uniquely disti

I remember Google's IPO vividly. Google's stock price didnt pop much. It priced at $85 and hit $100 the first day of trading. It hung around $100 for a few weeks and then started moving steadily higher throughout the fall, in large part bec

I've been on the buy-side for many years and the IPO market is a joke. Every time an IPO pops +20% it's irrefutable evidence that the banks are either incompetent and/or untruthful. I remain mystified that companies, particularly the hot is
