Serious question, how do you backup a casandra database of that size. Do you even back it up or just rely on the sharing to prevent dataloss?

Although async and await do look great, I am not very keen on using try/catch for everything. Is this not going to end up with more verbose code? I appreciate it will be impossible to ignore errors though.

We had a very bad experience with from this. When Avast first deployed this feature they broke all websocket connections. We had a lot of angry users. It took Avast a good few months to fix it.

Does anyone have more information on the websockets? I assume they all go through haproxy to their 9 web servers, which is a decent 29k sustained connections per server.

Unless I am missing something but dumping your entire db then reimporting would take hours in most cases. Staying available during that time would be a nightmare.

I think a key difference here is Groove is actually a real company with real revenues which are growing. This is not true for many similar sized acquisitions you see. Good on Groove!

This highlights my biggest criticism with Go (although I am a fan generally), the lack of a great IDE with powerful refactoring, debugging, test runner integration etc. These tools can be a great advantage of having a strongly typed static

Thanks, sublime tex and vim with plugins are still a long way off what you get from a good ide. Just glancing there is no real refactoring support, its more around auto complete.
