I bet Samsung, HTC, Sony, etc. all want to reduce their reliance on Android now that Google will soon own Motorola.

The availability of the iPhone 4S in Sprint is responsible for the 30% drop i would assume. The evo was a top seller for Sprint last year.

Yeah. A crappy choice. I would not be saying this if Android was such a beacon of software quality. Android is just Google's tool to serve users ads. Nothing more.

Saw this before. The key words are....annualized and revenue. They did not report mobile quarterly figures or costs and profits. But. we can extrapolate: $2.5 Billion annualized == $625 million quarterly mobile revenue. Elsewhere in the ear

What goldmine? They just replaced Nokia. Android is the new Nokia. Lots of worthless Market share, Zero profit. EDIT: I realize i'm going to be down voted for this. But if you don't think it's true, you're delusional.

HeapWorker.c uses pthreads. doing a quick check on one of the functions dvmLockMutex (in Thread.h) uses pthread_mutex_lock. // Grab a plain mutex. INLINE void dvmLockMutex(pthread_mutex_t pMutex) { int cc __attribute__ ((__unused__)

Here's another problem with HeapWorker.c (The android code that does garbage collection, etc.). This is just poor programming imo. Android's thread management is stuck in the 90s. With this type of thread management they're required to trap

Users don't distinguish between poor UI performance and"code stutters". The "negligble" sub-1ms stutters are a real problem in practice. and it's not just limited to poor code. Sometimes, no matter what you'll see GC being called, there's n

Garbage collection in Android is another performance bottleneck. ICS "fixes" this by allowing the garbage collector to run on a different thread but imo that's a kludge.
