I would argue that AGI will happen because we have to consensus on what AGI is. This leaves it open for these large AI companies to throw their weight around and define what AGI is before they claim to have achieved it. You and I might ag

"Never" is an incredibly strong word, and in the bigger scheme of humanity, the universe, and the next billion or so years, _everything_ that we can imagine will happen. It's an intellectually lazy argument to make. Like sayi

I'm convinced that we'll get AGI within the decade. But only because these large AI companies are controlling the narrative for the most part, and it's in their best interest to actually be the first one to announce that they

Ink tank printers ftw. They are much more expensive than these cheap printers bundled with small cartridges, but from my limited experience they are somewhat decent, and the ink is quite cheap too. They don't like not being used for lo

I don't quite understand, are you chastising US emigrants because they are being entitled? Are you not guilty of exactly the same thing from the perspective of your own country?

Normal people just get a second opinion from a different medical professional, if they disagree with the first one's diagnoses -- something we've been doing for decades at this point. But what do I know.

Maybe "mediumless" is the right word. Although, if we want to pedantic: music stored on a hard disk is still stored on a medium, but you can't pop the hard drive into any old player and play the music.

Scratched enough that it was not working any more? IME CDs work surprisingly well even with scratches, way way better than LPs though. You need to properly gouge the surface before things become problematic.

Not really sure why you are downvoted, but I'm inclined to agree with your sentiment. I've noticed this common thread of extracting glee in the suffering of others. So long the suffering of "them" is greater, then the su

Ah, so what you are saying is we are not going to need to make significant compromises to the ship's cargo capacity, but we are impacting the total max range significantly? Is a fully fuelled ship capable of much more than 5k km?

Cars can have tracking devices installed that remain dormant until remotely activated by the owner in case of theft. This is how Netstar and Tracker does it in South Africa. To massive success. So much so that a car without one of these ins

Roundup makes a product that looks like roll on deodorant. You literally roll it onto the leaves of the things you want to kill, and everything else remains unharmed. I'm also a fan of glyphosphate. Nothing else works nearly as well. P

Not everyone has cable/fibre/wifi in their homes, and need to resort to 4/5g cellular services in order to be online. This product is aimed at those people who want something nicer than the 5g router bundled with their plan.

To be fair, they have a nice ecosystem for networking nerds. I got a Dream Router last week for black friday and I'm super happy with it. Setup was like 20 seconds. I'm looking forward to getting more Unifi gear in the near future

I'm not too keyed into the economics of this supposed AI bubble, but is this not an unfathomably risky move on OpenAI's part? If this thing actually pops, or a competitor like Google actually pulls ahead and comes out victorious,
