You are looking at minified output there; of course nobody writes that. You can see the compiler output in the "JS output" tab here, it's very easy to follow: https://svelte.dev/repl/12aefec27f0d4ec5ad85a

Svelte already did that migration from 2 to 3. I don't think the fundamentals changing is anything to worry about now.

I would call Svelte a React-like system that actually does do direct DOM manipulations and works great for performance-critical UI code as well as everything else.

Yep. Somebody asked on Reddit the other day what happened to the Apple Watch app with 1P 8 for iOS and the lead guy responded with: > FYI, Support for Apple Watch was not dropped. The old Apple Watch app could not be included in 1Passwor

Amusement parks are doing this now too and it's even crazier because many of them will not allow you to have your phone anywhere on your person while on the rides.

You should either change “ (like myself)” to the proper “(like me)” or just remove it entirely from the website. It also seems like the app did not help when recording the demo video. It should be much shorter than two minutes.

Once you have your browser focused, you can use App Exposé (ctrl+down) to show all the windows from it.

Nobody seems to know about App Exposé, which you can trigger with ctrl+down. I also have it set for three finger swipe down. You can then use the arrow keys to move between windows if you don't want to use the mouse, and it includes mi

That's not entirely true. There has always been, and still is, a free account, but of course it doesn't have all the features and has a very low upload limit.

Back in the day it was a true community of creatives and creative professionals. There was a lot of effort put into fostering a positive community, unlike what you saw on many sites at the time. Video quality was always much more of a prior

There is still a lot of stuff like this, but it's harder than ever to find, and certainly not anywhere near as much as it used to be. It's a real shame.

Not always, but for a long time, yes. Back in the very early days (2007-2009 or so), it was a much more personal thing and not professional. It was actually a really awesome community of people. After that, we sort of shifted towards "

Yep, at least it is for me. I think it is so much easier to simply `bind:value` than have to write my own event handler to update inputs, etc. Similarly, it's much simpler to have the parent bind to a property of the child rather than

Yeah it's not strictly necessary, but if you are updating the list (adding/removing especially), Svelte can know how to reuse elements properly if they are keyed. You also need keys for animations to work properly.

There is no diff going on with Svelte. And there doesn't need to be an in-memory representation of anything. Because it is compiling the code, it knows exactly what will change and in response to what. https://svelte.dev

At a certain size, yeah the bundle will be larger, but it would take a lot to get to that point. For pretty much anything you would do, the bundle will be much smaller. Especially if you use SvelteKit which is smarter about what is bundled

If you have custom controls, putting that element in full screen will work if the browser you're in (and/or the iframe you're in) supports the newer fullscreen API. It only falls back in the case where that doesn't work (older browser, no a

I actually really like that way of doing it, but I don't think it would work well for what I was trying to do with BigScreen, mainly for the video fallback behavior. When browsers do drop the prefixes, part of the functionality wouldn't exi

My bad! There is a BigScreen.onerror, but I missed it in the docs. It should cover most things, but I didn't fully test it. I also couldn't get any browser to fire the native event in my testing.

It does way more normalizing than just the name of the function. It works around a number of bugs when the element is in an iframe, and it has a fallback if you're using it for video (which was the main reason I wrote it).
