All planes can land safely at their MTOW. However, doing so may cause damage that needs repair before a subsequent flight. It also means you need more runway, which can limit your options or reduce safety margins.

Your shares can only be lent if you have a margin account and have a negative cash balance (or collateral placed with other parties in excess of your cash balance), or if you have opted into a securities lending program like the one at IB.

It's not possible to always ensure that you report whether an operation succeeded. Consider a timeout - you waited 5 seconds for the backend to respond and heard nothing - was it, or will it be successful? You don't know. Typicall

Having a mode switch isn't enough; potentially any part of the program could contain a spectre gadget, so you'd need to run the whole program in that mode. A perhaps better approach would be to ensure that speculation aborts actua

They need to meet a FCC (?) deadline in order to avoid losing their licenses; probably that functionality wasn't ready in time.

The newer airbuses actually do have electronic checklists including - for at least some steps - automatic detection that the step has been completed. You can see an example of the electronic checklist in this simulator video: https:/&

The MCAS is designed to prevent an aerodynamic stall; a situation where the plane is pointed too far up and as a result starts heading straight for the ground. It does do by detecting the plane pointing too far up, and pushing it back down.

Raw sockets don't really allow for multiple applications to use the same custom protocol. If, for example, chrome and firefox were both running, which gets packets destined for the QUIC transport protocol? The kernel wouldn't know

The compiler has to assume that your operands might be large enough that they would overflow after a straight multiply.

Yes, having more frequency bands available helps better correct for ionospheric distortions, and provides a greater chance of getting more satellites in line of sight. Some phones already support multiple systems - Pixel 3 XLs will simultan

In 32-bit x86 there aren't very many registers to play with, and there were legacy ABIs that didn't preserve registers for TLS, so the segment registers were used instead. When x86-64 arrived, it had a lot more registers (but stil

In general, you lose some protection, as a two-stage exploit might write some data in W state then flip to (or wait for) X state for execution. That being said, a self-decompressing binary would only do this at startup, before it consumes u

You might want to minimize the length of fiber you would need (and port costs on the DC side) by connecting from one base station node via another rather than backhauling everything directly to a datacenter somewhere; using edge caching can

Loading those cache lines might invalidate an exclusively held cache line on another core. When that core tries to write to that cache line, it can observe a slower write.

What interactions are left then? Neutrinos don't interact with the electromagnetic or strong forces, and I don't think we can observe gravitational effects in an accelerator, so how are we detecting these sterile neutrinos?

Don't underestimate how long it takes to deploy a fix to such a vulnerability. Any change in consensus (which this would be) is a hard fork, and deploying it without carefully coordinating months in advance is certain to cause chaos.

Moreover the hash algorithm doesn't matter for the root cert, because the system has a trusted copy of the certificate in its root cert store and doesn't need to check any signatures on the root itself.

If you distrust Intel to even separate the CSPRNG from architectural registers, you should probably assume that they've compromised even pure-software CSPRNGs running on their chips as well.

Those are still repairable with the right equipment (SMD/BGA rework station) and training. The hard part is getting access to schematics (to diagnose which part is bad) and spare parts.
