I'm in a seed incubator this summer. We're building a product that will instantly setup a blog that matches the style and navigation of your startup's website. Instead of custom designing a matching theme, our hosted blog will figure everyt

I used a similar strategy with a 5 day stay in a hospital that didn't have WiFi. I tethered my phone and made a protected network called "$10/day - go to room 515". I was actually expecting to get a few clients, but no one ever did visit me

I actually saw scaffolding as a crutch when I started learning Rails and therefore made the conscience decision to learn the framework without using it. I think the time investment paid back dividends, and I don't usually recommend that beg

That's a very helpful idea, I didn't think to discuss it with the others.

I see what you're saying, but let me reiterate, I've only done this on the receiving end as an applicant, candidate, potential employee. Saying "about what I was thinking" is something I say when I would take a job for $500, but they offer

I wanted to give some positive feedback since the comments thus far seem negative. The design is fantastic, and I even bookmarked it under examples for my future designs. The logo is incredibly clever and meaningful, something you don't usu

Changing a contract is unethical, but that's not the technique described here. The strategy is with clarifying the contract. For example, if you agree on a price, that price should be set in stone, but that's only part of the contract. Wh

I'm not sure why you think I'm screwing over employees; I don't have any, I am one. This is true that someone has to make the first offer, but I stand by my argument that it's always to your advantage to nudge the other party to go first.

I strongly disagree with the first offer remark. Generally most negotiations start with some sort of frame, but it can be vague. Consider a salary negotiation for a entry-level software engineering position. Both parties know generally what

I see where you're coming from, but if you take your emotions out of it you won't feel as bad. Think of it as a game, one where both sides are trying to see just how low (or high) the other party will get. Negotiation is a mental game of ch

This is a Rails app, correct? I think using a nice template would make this a magnitude more attractive. My suggestion is to be more clear with the value. Put "Share your gift list" in big, bold font at top, or something like that. I should

If you calculate your time, almost certainly no, at least for pan roasting.

It's certainly cheaper than an official bean roaster. I'll have to buy one and see what a popcorn machine is, because I don't think I've ever seen one, and I assume you aren't talking about the ones at movie theaters.

I agree with fruit, he seemed to contradict himself since he praises foods with low GI, but ostracizes fruit. His counter argument for the lack of sustainability for this diet is the "cheat day" but I haven't found that to be effective at a

You should be able to get $4-5/lb of green beans fairly easily. The lower quality roasted beans typically go for $6/lb. I roast my own beans for taste though, it truly is superior if you do a good roast.

It definitely is cheaper, but pan roasting coffee on a stove can take quite a bit of time, is a fire-hazard, and causes quite a bit of irritating smoke and fumes for a few days. It sure tastes good though.

Congratulations, I know how hard of a feat this because I did it a few years ago. I went from 230 to 180 over a summer. I didn't have a special diet other than eating "healthy" (which is always subjective) and running 2 miles a night. I'm s

This reminds me slightly of Tim Ferris' "The 4 Hour Body". Has anyone had any real experience with his suggested diets? I find eating consistent and similar meals is cheaper and healthier.

I'm not sure I'd give them the benefit of the doubt that it was security through obscurity. Maybe it was an incredible error where editing resources didn't have any type of authorization and no authentication based on the article.

I'm not sure. Customization is nice, but having to construct the metrics manually instead of having them instantly available seems like a pain. I'd love to discuss it more, want to email me (in profile)?

I think this is an increasingly more interesting and useful space. Have you thought about metrics specific to types of startups? For example, a SaaS startup would be most interested in churn and customer lifetime value, but a consumer web a
