Completely agree, but we aren't about to develop our own. I just find it interesting that there isn't a solution to fits even most people's needs.

Yet another project management service? I'm amazed out how often these pop-up promising that they are the now "simplest" project management solution. Where's the differentiation? Other than the UI and a couple custom fields, these are no di

First of all, this market would never hire a copy writer. They would throw some of their own words together. Hell, I don't even think this market knows what copy writing is. You illustrated an excellent point though: It took 3 hours to teac

True, but most of the referrals I get are friend of a friend (or more layers). However, if my mechanic friend said "Here's a really easy way to figure out the problem yourself" I would definitely take it.

I like this white-label idea... It's essentially what most web designers do now for static websites, just using a 3rd party system. I'd bet money that most of the sites using SquareSpace, etc. have been sold BY the web designer. If you win

Here's another great bullshit speak piece by an entrepreneurship program at ASU called the "Venture Catalyst." Warning, there are more buzzwords here than a new employee handbook. asuventurecatalyst.org

I wish I could, but from what I've been told the company usually pays around that to get an H1B... :/

I'm not an expert, but I have spent the last 5 years trying to help a friend get an H1B. He was able to get a student visa and earn his undergrand and master's engineering degrees in the U.S. But he graduated as the economy fell and couldn'

AMEN! I never thought a website would be a competitive advantage for a bank, but I am actually switching all my accounts to Wells Fargo because their interface is mediocre (compared to Chase's which is horrendous). I have over a dozen bank

Don't host JS on Google? Do you mean libraries like jQuery? I'm curious because we use Google for jQuery and a few other libraries. I've never heard this to be a security issue, and I'm not entirely sure how it would be. Nonetheless, securi

Honestly, even if you understand the forms well, TurboTax is decent software to manage the process. OK it's crappy software... but it's better than spreadsheets.

Yep, and significantly more complex returns as well for the past 5-6 years. Partnerships are very complex returns, and I was able to do a return for that.

30 million unites is massive market share to me. Maybe massive isn't the best word to use, since that almost indicates a majority, I'd say significant instead. Massive is relative. IE6 has massive market share... although it's like 15%, tha

Honestly, if you're just an independent contractor without complex corporate structure and ownership, or depreciating assets, just buy TurboTax. It will be less than what you'll end up paying an accountant, and chances are you'll just end u

This really isn't true, at least on the IRS/fed level. You don't need anything to be classified as a business. It's merely "how you act" -- are you acting as a business, or are you acting as an employee. There's a list of definitions/guidel

The KEY question here is, what are you? Fed/State tax processes are dependent on what type of business you are e.g. sole-prop, LLC, corp, etc. Since you don't know how to handle contractor income, I'm guessing you didn't file any business p

Microsoft has a habit of being a few years late on any technology. Internet Explorer 9, and it's HTML 5 and CSS 3 support, should have been released 2 years ago to be competitive. Yet IE9, and I'm sure the Windows 7 Phone will get massive m

That is the key thing. I think perseverance is important, but perseverance through iteration. How long would you give a new web startup to reach 1,000 users? 10,000 users? before you considered it a failure or necessary to quit.
