People will tell you things ... This is a topic that: a) people really like to brag about, b) it's hard to separate "hanging around" hours from really productive hours, c) even if you can distinguish those, it's a major pain to accurately

Nice perspective, I can easily imagine finding one janitor with PhD in 200K town. There is absolutely nothing surprising about this (in contrast to seemingly high 5000 PhD janitors in the whole US).

While it's not crazy fast, it's perfectly playable on my Thinkpad (Core2 Duo 2.4Ghz, 4GB RAM, Radeon 3650, 256 MB, DX11). I even put up almost all graphics settings to max. About the only time when rendering is really slow is in diplomacy v

You are right. According to Wikipedia, SAT 1600 (post-1995) is 99.93 percentile, so about 1 in 1429 (3.4 standard deviations). Given that there are millions of people taking SAT, in absolute numbers there should be plenty of people hitting

Not all successful people have very high SAT scores, not all people with very high SAT scores are successful, but I would guess among very successful people there will be disproportionately many people with very high SAT scores. Anecdotally

Did you already try to update GPU driver? I had really bad crashes (high pitch noise, bright white flash, driver killed) on Firefox 4 and Chrome 7 when they started to use HW acceleration and problems went away after the update. Though this

Atari 800 XL. Mostly playing tons of games, a little bit of BASIC. Nice side-effect: I learned English earlier and better than my peers. Being stuck in a game was perfect motivation, dictionary was always at hand (thank you Adventure).

I don't know, there are some slight differences in canvas font renderers between Firefox and Chrome even in unaccelerated browsers. Try to use exactly the same font settings as in Bespin. It may be that "10px Arial" is ok but "0.9em sans-se
