I think this could be applied to many encounters; dating seems to be the most obvious.

Clarification: I said that somebody would notice, not that somebody would care. (fact vs emotion) Cite your source. I am skeptical by relying on the "six degrees of separation" theory... I literally know nobody who has ever known

Most respectable people are reliable and have numerous responsibilities. If such a person disappears, people would notice... many people.

He gave a 15 minute speech on reverse engineering, then spoke for 4 minutes about self-driving cars... In such a short time, what were you expecting him to achieve? (re: "social aspect of a ton of steel moving in public")

Shouldn't software (or anything else) be made optimal for the majority of people that will use it? With common apps like web-browsers, email, & chat, pushing everyone to become an advanced user is nonsense.

Can you share a few examples? Google seems to be leaning more toward "normal users" but I enjoy the software nonetheless. Are you sure you are the intended user? Catering to a different userbase might be their intent.

My concerns are the opposite. I'd rather see a few Nigerian scams get through than completely miss an old friend's email.

So, you'd be interfacing with a virtual world of your virtual terminals which are running on a virtual machine in the real world? I just realized I had not really considered how many possible uses VR could have.

His complaint seems just plain wrong... are these VR systems incapable of mirroring the image to a TV?

What was your intended use of an Ubuntu tablet? Server-farm? Gaming? I am pretty excited, but it is Linux on a tablet , which is kinda the worst of the worst from a performance perspective. Hopefully this marks the beginning of an increa

You could use Terminal Emulator and run the CLI ssh client. I know CyanogenMod includes "ssh". It's probably closed-source, but I use JuiceSSH and it is great. The Pro version has a cloud backup that makes SSH migration a bre

The author is complaining on the behalf of those who could use more help (the 99%). Do you honestly think that 99.9% of people "do nothing"? This world-view is flawed and self-righteous. Anecdotally, I am from a small, southern US

A complex topic. I see your point, and I even agree... but where do we draw the line where someone's words now wholly condemn the person? In your final paragraph, replace the word "slavery" with "gay marriage" or &q

Condemn what the man says, not the man. He may have some interesting or insightful things to say about other topics like Computer Science. I disagree with everyone on at least one topic... throw them all under the bus because of that?

The author needs to lighten up and pay more attention to the avenues of learning he prefers, rather than what he hates. I have never seen Kardashian's ass in a respected scientific journal. Related: https://xkcd.com/603

As someone who has been through many treatments, meetings, clinics, etc, regarding addiction, you are focusing on the wrong thing. Who cares what it is called... go get help first, any help, then worry about arguing about semantics later.

Generic classes/treatments/therapy on addiction already exist. Marijuana has not been proven to be physically addictive like alcohol & heroin. Psychological addiction can happen with anything, so that is why I mention generic

Looking at the bigger picture (if your intent is decreasing harm), I would work on limiting the alcohol advertising before trying to hinder the already limited marijuana advertising.
