Seconded. When we go on cruises, my wife spends more time haggling over a ring than we've ever done on a house or a car.

While I agree with the premise that voicemails that provide no additional information are not useful, the author is an elitist jerk. That being said, callers generally have no idea if you aren't answering because you're not near your phone,

Have you considered whether you're following a fantasy? Maybe you should seek advice from someone you trust who doesn't drink the HN/TechCrunch Kool-Aid. Somehow I doubt you were rejected from YC due to lack of effort.

Did you read the entire article? Nobody knows how many natural short sleepers are out there. "There aren't nearly as many as there are people who think they're short sleepers," says Daniel J. Buysse, a psychiatrist at the University of Pit

Having read a plethora of stories about the Google interview process over the years, from interns on up, it seems like it would be easier to build a company and sell it to Google than to get through the application process. Surely someone h

Not so sure about that. http://www.paulgraham.com/startuphubs.html And if, as nearly everyone who knows agrees, startups are better off in Silicon Valley than Boston, then they're better off in Silicon Valley than everywhere else too.

For many years, MIT had no operating systems course. In the fall of 2002, Frans Kaashoek, Josh Cates, and Emil Sit created a new, experimental course (6.097)... That seems pretty shocking, unless they meant in name only. What was the next

Great read, it's nice to see non-founders that are so enthralled with their jobs. Off-topic, though: All of our early press had evaporated, it turned out nobody actually wanted to broadcast their lives, and we really had no idea what to do
