Or you can use the AWS Console - https://console.aws.amazon.com/ Which seems a bit easier, even to a command-line junkie like me.

Fascinating article! I have a great uncle who was a blind marathon runner. He used a guide and I wonder how he would have done if he had learned how to echolocate. http://wwuvikings.cstv.com/sports/c-track/spec-rel/082108aaa...

I love stories like this! Businesses coming up with unique solutions to help their customers get their work done. It does surprise me that they gave them a $10k non-refundable deposit on the spot! That's a good customer relationship.

Did you read the same article as I did? It was about displaying a loading spinner over the top of the Apple keyboard. It is an interesting article and I'm going to look into it a bit deeper. I wonder how Apple views their method for enumera

Add to that a customer base that actually buys apps. How many other cell-phone platforms have a customer base that buys anything more than ringtones?

Exactly. That's why Open Source (Release Early, Release Often) and Agile (iterative) development works so much better. Get the users using the system/site/whatever and build on their feedback.

Well, they are better than those atrocious ones with Seinfeld and Bill Gates. But they still have a long way to go to compete with the humor of the Apple ads.

I think this is the leading edge of the next revolution. MapReduce, Hadoop, Cloud CPU cycles are the building blocks but we still need the tools that make it easier for scientists to operate on their datasets without having to be a hard-cor

DNS response time can be a huge issue. The type of software you use can also make a difference. I noticed a significant increase in the speed of lookups when I switched from using BIND9 to djbdns.

I think there are a couple of factors in play there. One is the iPhone, and the big spike in his graph would indicate that demand shot up when the iPhone SDK was released. The other is that there just aren't very many traditional MacOS jobs

There is nothing to this article. Pure fluff. Hell, I'm not even convinced 'sprints' produce any useful code. This does nothing to inform me.

I think this is a good choice. I found learning mercurial after using svn for years to be very easy. And why not choose a system written in the language that you are writing? Sort of a recursive dog food feast...

These recent problems with Google Docs highlight a bigger problem with keeping your data 'in the cloud', you are trading security for ease of use and even if you have the best development team in the world behind the app there are still goi
