With how expensive college is, and the fact that kids can borrow money from the government to pay for it, how is it possible for them to go broke?

I've experienced many of the same frustrations. Here's another one. This might be specific to the Note 4. When clicking the back button, nothing happens... I'm wondering, did it accept my press or is it just lagging... Hmm,

Equally the government should not discriminate based on whether you are married or not for tax purposes. They need to treat everyone the same in the eyes of the law.

Just my 2 cents. The government should not enforce marriage contracts, they should enforce legal contracts. Marriage is a private matter, not a government matter. They shouldn't officially recognize marriage at all, nor should they di

Even if there is a model that performs well, how do you account for survivorship bias? And how accurate are models without a clear understanding of the physical reasons why behind them? Seems like we should be concentrating on understanding

Actually, it is. You can't look at someone's financial interest to know whether what they said is true or not. Similarly for any other attribute about them that you don't like. There are many great thinkers who were gay. We

You can't really but if you were to think about it that's how I would go about it. You can test different values and probabilities that you think are (likely|conservative|optimistic) and go from there. That gives you a range and

Yes, you are correct. 43% as W2 vs 15% from capital gains. That should be factored in as well. I'll add that to the original comment.

Another thing that would make the options worth more (less of a risk) is if the company started making a profit they started issuing dividends. This is not likely to happen though because the company is going to be focused on growth and the

Your potential payout is your number of shares x the share price. So let's say that comes out to $100K. You have to discount that to present value. Money is worth more now than it is in the future. Assuming an interest rate of 5% and

I remember that game being very playable and fun. I especially liked the zoom feature. It is missing in modern RTS games. It really adds a lot. I loved how it switched to icons as you zoomed out.

That's an expensive lottery ticket. I used to do that, but on my 3rd startup now and yet to see anything. I could have bought a new car with what options I've converted.

Sun Tzu would agree with you. People need to see things as they most likely are (worthless) not as they like to see things (I'm going to be rich).

One thing that would increase the value of options, at least to me, is if you have Series A options that can be sold to investors at Series B or C. Why is it that this is never an option (pun intended)?

At series C you are not likely to get a significant enough position to make it worthwhile. If they do indeed have revenue then they should be able to pay you a decent salary. This is the way I look at it: A 50% chance to make $100K in 5 ye

My thoughts on options are pretty much identical except I would say "worthless" no "worth less". I would also add that with an option position you are most likely giving up a higher salary and the opportunity cost that c

To counter my earlier statement though I think there are scenarios where you can have your cake and eat it too. JSON is easier to use, debug, and is more efficient than XML. WebAssembly is going to reduce data transfer sizes and load times

You're right, I could have been clearer about saying it is a new AST and not a JavaScript/asm.js AST. That is what I meant. Bytecodes are for instruction sets, not trees though. From wikipedia, "Bytecode, also known as p-cod
