This is great. I just thinking about messing with a STM32 chip for a project, so this guide looks good. And actually Amazon's little button thing looks awesome. Hopefully they don't freak out and try to lock it down in the futur

I agree with what you are saying but this piece is of little value. It is a poorly written appeal to emotion in the form of a vague anecdote devoid of logical arguments, and frankly is an insult to the intelligence of the readers of the pu

Based on the content of his article it seems to me like he has a good grasp on the material IMHO. In any case, I generally don't equate the job title on someone's resume to the definition of what they are .

This article is bound to ruffle some feathers around here. The writing is spot on but will cause some cognitive dissonance for some as the words ring true but conflict with the structures they have set up in their minds and in their lives.

Shorting exposes you to potentially unlimited losses and you might have to keep putting up money to stay in your position if the market turns against your short position (even if the other side of your trade is working). You'd have to

You could be right, but I don't consider investing to be the same as the lottery. Buffett and Rogers consistently beat the market, year after year, decade after decade. The Quantum Fund (started by Jim Rogers and George Soros) had a 3

I have no interest in the hubris of shorting into a raging bull market, especially when investor sentiment is fearful ( http://money.cnn.com/data/fear-and-greed/ ). Also I'm not saying that the phenomenon in my

You make a good point, I really was only considering major large cap indices. I assume this is what most people mean when they talk about "index funds". I'm not really against index funds per se, I actually think they are a

What if the efficient market hypothesis is not correct? I think that people like Warren Buffett and Jim Rogers might beg to differ with that theory.

A bigger problem with index funds is the inherent bias they create towards consolidation of capital at the top. A company that becomes part of the S&P 500 will automatically have bi-weekly buyers of their shares as people pump money in

That money is usually budgeted for charity, and probably can only go to "legal" charities (at least in the US there are tax benefits to this) It is probably much harder to compete for a piece of that budget, and also there are a l

Let's not forget the whole "I'm going to build a business around and name my company after a GPL project, and then proceed to trash the GPL at OSCON" fiasco. We are, after all, talking about a GNU project here.
