A lot of the tips in this article are very similar to the ones provided in this fantastic book: The Elements of Style [1]. I highly recommend it, even for a non-native speaker. [1] https://www.amazon.com/Elements-Style-Fourt

It's funny. I just finished writing a lesson where I teach about different color formats. In it, I explained how difficult it was to choose a color with rgb values, because that's not how humans think about color. This game is a g

Fair point. I'm planning on making those elements "tag" agnostic. That way, you can use a CSS class or a <button> instead of an <a>.

I thought the name hinted at the fact that this was a WordPress replacement, not a static site generator (which there are plenty off). I used to build lots of WordPress themes years ago. I've seen a lot of static site generators poppin

I second that on desktops/laptops as well: being able to click on a piece and then on the target.

You'd be surprised how much private conversations are had on a work chat. And even if some conversations don't discuss anything critical, it could still be used against you somehow.

I've tried to like Obsidian for a long time. It had never clicked with me, despite it's simple interface and seemingly great support. But I recently finally found a great use case for it: saving code snippets. Specifically: code s

Exactly. Combining vh with a min and a max height is the best solution nowadays to design an effective landing page.

Very interesting! A few years ago I imagined something similar, with the added ability to move blocks between adjacent windows: https://twitter.com/jgthms/status/1225513837379641350

I didn’t realise it was linked to in this article. I built that on a whim several years ago. It’s more about what can be done in 4 min rather than what’s being done. But I’m glad it inspired people to try to style their own website themselv

Marksheet.io, my free HTML and CSS course landed me a job back in 2015. It turned out to be my last office job before turning fully freelance. https://marksheet.io/

Oh, I was going to mention that one. We're in October 2023. A video published in November 2021 should not say "1 year ago" but rather "Almost 2 years ago".

Just wanted to say the landing page is excellent. I love the 1-2-3-4 steps with instructions and screenshots. It shows how easy it is to set up and avoids the classic marketing focus on bold headings, "personas", fancy icons, vagu
