Yeah, I think this is something that has to be solved by the tooling. It isn't reasonable to expect people to do a git blame and remember to email everyone whose code you want to change. That being said: I don't even expect peopl

I'm no fan of Adobe, but to me this sounds like a completely legitimate business decision. Of course they are not going to pass on the savings to the user, except perhaps indirectly by having a way of easing the shareholder pressure to

Markdown is popular because it implements just enough features to be useful while not presenting a high threshold for "just writing things down". It exists because traditionally, people who design markup languages have not done a

I've had the mount on a Nikkor 24-70mm break off while attached to a Nikon D4 due to an accident. The camera body was completely fine. Then again, the D4 has a skeleton underneath the plastic and rubber surface that looks like the sku

My anecdata (owned 8-9 dSLRs) suggests they're pretty robust. I haven't had a dSLR fail on me yet. The oldest camera I have is 21 years old (no longer used, but still works). The oldest cameras I still occasionally use are 12-13

Yes, there are people who make a living from playing. It doesn't mean it isn't healthy to take a step back every now and then and consider the ridiculousness of taking this too seriously. If only there was bread to accompany the

I agree. You have to focus on the company, not those who are NOT going to be a part of it. It might seem like a dick move, but it is far less of a dick move than not making an effort. I'm sure that there will be negative consequences.

Somewhat unrelated observation: I have never looked at SchyllaDB so I went to the web page. In the most prominent space they take a dump on the competition. Normally that would be a red flag for me, but in this case it made me curious. Now

This movie was posted on youtube. Then taken down. With SF Studios in Sweden claiming copyright. How is this? Did they somehow make a derivative work which they could then copyright?

It depends on what kind of book we're talking about. A lot of the fiction I read is just for entertainment then and there. Not retaining it isn't a big loss. In fact, it is probably just good for me to forget. I read between 10 a

I got this wakeup-call somewhat indirectly. I was looking at what books I want to read in the coming year (a constant struggle :-)) and I realized that at my current rate of ~80 books per year, and perhaps 30-40 years left to live, I'
