Google runs things internally as fat binaries inside cgroups, which is a Linux kernel feature that implements resource limits like "only give this thing 2GB of memory" Docker combines cgroups with a layered filesystem and a tarfil

I use it every day against a (multi-tenant) Prometheus back-end. You have to put in quite a lot of effort to design the right queries and charts, but after that it works great for my needs. We prefer to have dashboards under source control

I'm wondering how exploitable this is. Kube-dns doesn't listen outside of the cluster, so to you need to be able to run arbitrary code inside the cluster to make use of it. Then it lets you escape to the dnsmasq container. Which d

I found "tuple" to be an odd word, when I first came across it. Eventually I figured out it is a generalisation of "couple", "triple", "quadruple", etc. It's one of those things, but we don'

The equivalent tool is docker-machine, not docker compose. Though they de-emphasised that tool in favour of Docker for Mac and Docker for Windows which interact directly with the platform hypervisor to create a Linux VM.

So in a deb I can run "pip install foo"? I have this idea that deb is more file-oriented. Never looked into it properly.

This is never a problem in practice. All the syscalls for files, sockets, etc., have stayed the same for years. [edit] backstopped by Docker requiring at least 3.10

I'm no expert in those earlier tools, but how does "building a deb" look if the app is in Python or NodeJS, say? With Docker I can take a base userland, install pip, use pip to add libraries, then add my own files, and once I

Think you might be talking about running the Docker daemon inside Docker, which is a different thing from just calling Docker from a container.

I'm not sure what you're talking about now. There are no market forces acting on projections : that's my point. EDIT: and LIBOR isn't much of a projection, it is "I believe I could borrow at this rate, today, if I

Focus on doing the things that you alone can do. There's a bug in the code: you can fix it. But can anyone else fix it? If so, let them. Even if you can do it better. Let them learn, let them grow. What can you alone, as the Director,

Why do they suggest the plane was at a low altitude? It was an hour into a flight from Seattle to Beijing; by that time they will be cruising above 30,000 feet.

I'd be interested to know how to do that. Go's Chdir() calls SYS_CHDIR on Darwin, and Posix requires that chdir affects the whole process. In Linux you can unset CLONE_FS when creating a thread, but the Go runtime does not do this
