It's not just for western music. Hindustani music is more "quantized" around scales than Carnatic music, and many North Indians find it harder to listen to Carnatic music for that reason.

There were plans for a lot more commercial biotech back in the day. Some of it has rebounded, but Seattle never really became a competitor to Cambridge (MA), San Diego, or the Bay Area. The non-profit side is pretty good.

Wasn't a biotech hub plan B originally? That never panned out. For reference I've worked in SLU for the better part of a decade, first at Rosetta Biosoftware (ISB is in that building now) and at AWS for the last 8 years.

Many of my peers ended up doing postdocs (most finished PhDs in the early 00s). Some are academics today, many work in industry. Some like me are now in completely different fields. I was mostly lucky in that I got a job at an early stag

You can do both. Each approach has its own pros and cons both in the sound and modulation options. Eurorack is all kinds of awesome for many reasons.

Make Noise released a Eurorack module[1] this year that was inspired by the Telharmonium. If the Harmonic oscillator is anything like the Telharmonium, the timbres would have been super interesting. 1. http://www.makenoisemusic.
