My counterargument is when rails came out PHP was just as capable of letting you knock stuff up quickly and meeting the business goals for a startup. Where rails excels I think is at shops that need to pump out different websites for differ

I reckon you are looking at Haskell here, and the ghc compiler in particular. I agree but it's not a property if ever FP language and it doesn't have to be.

There are better pure queue types and STM channels and suchlike that are designed for the job, so if bench-marking then you want to be fair to Haskell and use the right type.

Ha ha. No they (the people who make real deals/trades/decisions) are just focused on their bonus. Having said that they also care a bit about their bonus. And of course their bonus is important too. Have I missed anything?

Try to find out about the different roles. Quants, traders, infrastructure, back office and front office etc. I think traders per se will be less common as automation takes over, and it's a team effort keeping the machine purring. And

Or I built a startup on shakey ground. It's the equivalent of using hubpages instead of your own domain name for a marketing site. Or relying solely on SEO etc. Your fate is on the hands of another company that can pull the rug.
