I'm sure I'm guilty of some logical fallacy or another here, but isn't responding to customer demand one of the core things espoused by the startup community? A big company does exactly what we're all saying is good for

Why use (and advertise) "High Modulus Epoxy" as the bonding agent for the wood version? High Modulus means stiff, and unbending - i.e., crack instead of bend, and in bonding wood to aluminum, a lower modulus resin would be better

Why is it there's an expectation for MS to support XP for so long, yet people have so little problem with Apple's OS policies? Entire PowerPC architecture abandoned between versions? My last mac was a great little 10 inch ultra-

One thing though, if the site's unreachable, often in the comments there's a mirror or a summary. If you can't turn the a into a:visited, you'd never get the link to show up if the site gets overloaded by the HN effect.

Sounds a lot like what https://tosback.org/ intends to accomplish, only slightly different targets.

Sadly, I think the only one who's going to benefit here are credit card companies. I can almost picture the "Theives are getting more sophisticated, we're getting more sophisticated than them with the new nano-carbon unobtan

Having been on both sides of this fence, once as a manager, and several times as an employee, I think the idea of "unlimited PTO" is too suspect to smart employees, and the only real viable option as a good (productive) developer

Why is no one mentioning the job market for C# developers? I love lots of languages, but what pays my bills is a day to day C# 9-5 Senior Dev job. It leaves me with the financial stability to play around with ideas in other languages at h

It's been present in the last three places I've worked. At one, it was definitely the "after 4 on Fridays" type of thing (115 person company at the time), at another it was the "start at lunch and go till the end o

I worked for a company based in Germany, and when I'd go visit I remember the big bottles of beer in the cafeteria. I think the whole time I was there I witnessed maybe 2-3 people ever drink a beer outside of the Wednesday weisswurst

I think the difference here is what you're describing is a group of beer nerds who happen to work together (Russian River in Chicago, that takes effort) vs a culture of slamming miller lite all day long while "working"

I didn't realize the frequencies were so dramatically different. If I remember my basic electronics, that's double the wavelength for the AT&T signals and that makes complete sense. Thanks.

Interesting. I've never been treated badly by any of their support staff, but I definitely have the "doesn't work in my own home" problem with them, as many other friends do. It perplexes me because AT&T works just

I love the service I get from T-mobile, as far as the human element goes. I've been with them for a long time and they treat me very well when I need them to. Unfortunately, I can't tolerate the service the network itself provide
