What truth do they have to handle if you don't start with a lie? We give gifts to each other on other holidays, birthdays, and even for no reason at all. Isn't that a better thing to teach a child to comprehend than a made up sky

How long is it ok to lie to a child once they figure out the ruse though? Her mother tells the rest of the story much better and how she tried to dance around it without lying to her kid, but ultimately she caved, and despite telling her d

My wife's mother told her fairly young Santa didn't exist after much questioning the practicality of it with her. After confirming her suspicions, my wife told all of her classmates, which prompted an angry call to her mother. Th

I would have to imagine heat loss in transit, as it's not a problem anywhere else other than the far side. The plant itself has a lot of waste heat and not boiling too much water is a concern.

I live on a small island in Iceland, too far across the sea to pipe Geothermal water to, so the town heats water electrically and pipes it to homes instead. It's not very efficient, and it is rather expensive. It's kind of inter

What to Submit On-Topic: Anything that good hackers would find interesting. That includes more than hacking and startups. If you had to reduce it to a sentence, the answer might be: anything that gratifies one's intellectual curiosity.

I have a set of these. They do work well, as the original post says, but I tend to use them more for holding flats or removing 8-sided plastic nuts and such. One downside is they gunk up pretty quick if you're working with messy stuff

This is so off base and irrationally elitist, you really just don't see how wrong it is. These tools do SO MUCH more than just give you a GUI for a coding system. Code analysis, preventative suggestions, and a common look and feel for

A former girlfriend of mine went to what she thought was a clinic, and was effectively scared out of having one, and had twins at 18. These scummy tactics work, or people wouldn't do them.

My father and I in the early 90s were lucky enough to come across a Tempest arcade machine that "didn't work" in a yard sale and bought it for 50$. I was going to make something out of the cabinet. I opened it up, and notic

I love the idea, but the non-flat top, and the display on the flat top kill it (and admittedly, most cheap kitchen scales) for me. If I can't put a big bowl on it and still see the readout it's useless to me.
