Where's Google's upside in all this? This (maybe) improves their search product, but it doesn't directly make them money. From a legal standpoint, this behavior is clearly different from their last slap on the wrist.

> This is identical to the ranking boost given to Google Shopping (for which Google was just fined 3 billion EUR), so you can expect the same result. Isn't it different because (presumably) the AMP links aren't owned by Google?

I'v seen this extensively in multiple upper-middle income communities on the east coast. Houses that have tripled in relative value force their now retired owners to sell because they can't afford the higher property tax. Develope

There are only ~20 buildings of 100+ stories in the world. The tallest building in the Bay Area is the Salesforce Tower at 61 stories, and there are only ~50 buildings in SF that hit 400 feet, which is about 1/3 the height required to

I second the request. I spent several years as a K-5 teacher, I didn't perceive this dynamic at all. All US teachers are rightfully extremely wary of being alone with any child, and from what I've seen that is a concern for teache

I lived (well) in San Jose on <$65,000 pre-tax for 4 years, including picking up a degree at nights to the tune of $20K. I agree that it is some financial challenge, but it is nowhere near as dire as "paycheck to paycheck." I a

I think you're making a big assumption that you'll be accepted - anecdotally I've heard that they turn away many people who meet their basic acceptance criteria unless those people have a large amount of industry experience.

In fairness, aren't movie ticket prices in NYC near $20? I haven't tried to see a movie there in >5 years, but at the time going to see one in midtown was ~$16.
