You got any sources for this one? I'm super curious about how this works.

Down in flames is possibly an unfortunate choice of words here.

The design of the plane was a financially motivated one and lead to the MCAS system being required in the first place. And your note on lack of redundancy and not providing additional training - surely the costs there are obvious?

True, and I believe that accident investigators are very good at accurately deducing a vehicle's speed from the accident scene. My concern here is that as an organisation the insurance company is motivated to find ways to not pay you.

I really don't like this trend of considering every facet of my life when making an insurance offer. All these systems seem to lack the nuance to take into account personal circumstances. What if I bought a "bad" condition ho

Does that mean it couldn't be used to decline you coverage in the event of an accident where the data showed that, for example, you were doing 33 in a 30?

Yeah and there is also the ridiculous cost of living in a lot of the tech areas. A household earning $117k is on the poverty line in SF.

I'm sorry if this is a misunderstanding but I thought you pay tax where you do business. So Facebook should be tax on profits generated in the UK - but they play with their corporate structures to make it look like they aren't act

The article quickly mentions that speeding tickets don’t have a cumulative effect like they do in other countries, but doesn’t explain why. Surely this would also make the system more egalitarian - if you’re caught 3 times you lose your lic

Totally agree cars are not the right mode of transport for cities. I'm a big fan of park and ride solutions for this - drive to the outskirts, dump the car and ride the train/bus in. I don't think it is really fair however to

The problem is that most of those SOV commuters are commuters because they cant afford to live in the city. I count myself among them. I would rather not drive, but public transport is too expensive and so is housing. If I have to choose be

But your comment glosses over the part about rural people though. The reason these people love them is because there is no alternative and I don't really see how we can change that. Mass transit doesn't make sense in rural areas.
