One thing that bugs me about this is the use of CDATA. CDATA sections are just-about ok in hand-crafted xml, but in machine generated xml, they are absolutely pointless, and usually hint that the coder doesn't know what they're doing. For e

I'm not sure about this attribution to Freud. The wiki reference is to a management self-help book. That kind of book is full of inspirational quotes, never cites sources, and really shouldn't be relied on. Digging back it seems likely that

I've had it happen to me 4 times (BA, BM) on the Friday flights back to Glasgow. Compensated every time, in all but one case cash in hand. I was also offered an overnight stay in Prague when they overbooked my flight back to Schipol, but un

I clicked on the Atlantic example and thought 'but that looks the same size as his text' for a moment, before I realised the browser had remembered my zoom level for the Atlantic!

For that to have been a happy coincidence is basically impossible with PDF. You're told a run of positioned glyphs to render, but then you have to figure out what text those really represent by looking at the font tables (even the simplest

You're not wrong. In context here, I was in a running club, regularly racing half-marathons-usually running a longer distance than that at least once a week, as one of 4 training sessions, and I'd run a marathon before. But training for my

Overextending the analogy, there's no brakes on track bikes but they go fast too. They don't need them, the fixed gear means applying counter pressure on the pedals stops the bike. The clunky software analogy would be to do with lightweight

Fantastic work. Love the tagging autocomplete - I find JOSM's icon menu completely counterintuitive, you have to guess what classification the tag is under before you can use it (and of course some things aren't there)

One of the things missing from the BBC report there was that this was a mitochondrial DNA test. While many may (on paper) be a descendant of Richard III, illegitimacy is common and matrilineal heritage is the best bet.

This looks like a cool hack but note this is from an art project website, and may be just conceptual. Also the link to openps.org doesn't work and it doesn't show up on Google. Still, interesting idea.

Somewhat amused that the embedded video for this $599 device had a google ad overlayed for the €69 GoPano micro. The demos - showing warped images via normal video - are not great. I've seen this done better: http://www.see360now.com/ (po

I can imagine using it for a prototype - the original image could be a photograph of a real object or a sketch rather than something created on the computer. The results won't be great but you'd get something working quickly.

No, it removes console.log statements; really not at all obvious without reading the code. The metonymy of referring to console.log as the log when it's the thing that creates the log doesn't help at all.
