Fuck what it says on the order page. They sell a car promoted as being full self driving capable at some point, yet have loads of different hardware revisions and sensor packages, none of which delivered it and they still have the audacity

Oh wow. Details show how bad my memory is as well - stories fade and change over time :) Well over a decade has passed now and I have nothing to do with Windows whatsoever any more and am running fully Apple on the desktop and Linux on the

Mine is not a philosophy. I'm closely related to someone who has to deal with the fall out of such procedures. The standards being met for surgery are fairly low and the psych evaluations are not always conclusive.

If it's any consolation I know someone who went through that and now wants them back. Ergo, there are problems if you go through that too. Perhaps it's too easy to do it...

Perhaps you don’t need to grow? Growth is not the only business model. I mean failing to do maintenance is a sin of course but anything else, there is no one true course.

I posted this on here a long time ago but NetBSD was always a winner for me. I set up a dialup gateway for a small company in the late 90s on it on a skip dived Compaq desktop. Forgot about it and moved to somewhere completely different in

Yeah this. Hasn’t changed then. 25 years ago I finished a few years sitting in front of Virtuoso. I did some days working in the internal fab as well. Left and worked for a web design startup and tripled my salary overnight.

Learn maths first, right up to calculus. It'll hurt a lot less and improve your life anyway. You can wire up circuits without knowing much but without maths it's difficult to build anything more than trivial stuff on your own with

I have gone past the point of giving a shit. Unless it's something I really care about the minuscule details for I'll get ChatGPT to write the main chunk of code and then fix the bugs. It's no different than having a junior d

Both are terrible. The whole web is terrible. I wish for Gopher, nicely presented PDFs, thick apps and APIs and for the whole hypertext steaming pile of mess to crawl back to where it came from.

Let's flip this around. As a customer, if time to market is your primary driver, I don't want your product because you're choosing to put me at risk.

It's really easy to do. Particularly the getting them made bit. I just did a quote for a 2 layer board that's TKL keyboard sized and to get 5 made it's about £20 delivered to my door from JLCPCB.

Yeah this on all counts. Ultimately it's probably better to have a triple-layer for the keyboard from what I can see. The faceplate that the switches are mounted on, the PCB and then the back plate. Could probably sandwich it all toget

No it's not. It sort of works until you have to deal with thinks like international dates when the thing isn't rendered or breaks (which happens a lot on android from experience). Then some end user inserts an invalid date like 20

I think it's a little unfair to attribute it to Microsoft and MSN Messenger as it was a concept that originated on Japanese phones AFAIK. Also Microsoft's emojis are currently the worst by a mile out of the big tech companies.

How this usually turns out... 1. We got into this microservices fad and built this really granular service architecture which we're so proud of but is actually a pile of steaming shit and we're in denial. 2. We forgot to consider
