I've heard one argument that posits one of the causes for this rift is the prohibitive costs of legacy computer hardware/software. The old 286 in my father's office growing up probably ran him $4,000 - $5,000. If you can imagine paying a

You may want to keep in mind that using "ELT" vs "ETL" (even if that's what order Teradata works in) makes it harder to search for the job on most sites. FYI -- I was about to apply for this until I noticed the 2-month contract. I'm more j

The usual argument is evolutionary; i.e. men have a biological incentive to embrace monogamy to help prevent the chances of being cuckolded while women do not. I'm not supporting it, as it is an equally untestable hypothesis, just mentioni

I wish they'd give us some idea of how they are testing beyond mentioning "customer workload"; maybe even release their own benchmark by simulating some typical customer workload. The dbench bashing seems out of place without some further

True, it may not have been as ultra-sophisticated as the article lets on, but the fact that there would be no obvious reason to pursue the attack on 34 different companies seems to belie the commercial-hack theory.

The FCC regulates almost all aspects of local exchange carriers. The entire business is so mired in regulation that it would be legally impossible to let it naturally die. Really, the FCC's main responsibility isn't to legislate its death

That's all well and good, but when you look at it from the interviewee's perspective he/she has to determine, based on what little knowledge they have of the interviewer, whether or not they want to hear the bullshit answer or your preferre

It's not a permanent label for the age group... it was originally used to describe 18-24 year olds almost 20 years ago. This crap is pretty subjective but I would guess gen X is now in their mid-thirties.
