It's called the Werther Effect. That's why some countries outright censor stories and talk of suicide because it sparks a rash of them.

Oh noes... not more Russiagate conspiracy theories. Chris Hedges and Aaron Mate were just on with an American RT host Rick Sanchez talking about the reasons for this sort of theme. I also think it feeds into rising nationalism that (inevita

Did California's GATE actually have a purpose? I was in it for 13 years (~1982-1996) and it seemed completely and utterly pointless. No extracurriculars, no meetings, no resources... it seemed like a smart-kid inventorying service for

MacTeX 2019 doesn't appear to be available yet and Homebrew isn't sufficiently wise to work with pre-releases in-advance to get formulas working sooner rather than later.

HK is slowly-but-surely heading towards full Orwellian Chinese rule. The handover was the beginning of the end, and all promises would be unenforceable and breached. It doesn't matter about petitionings through some international bodie

We use Crystal for networking code, and it has nice C binding semantics. Haven't had to drop down to pure C much because Crystal just works, and doesn't have the learning curve or un/boxing hoops of rust. It's basically

Laser printers economics: The more expensive the printer, the amortized cheaper the cost per page and the more repairable it is. I worked at nuclear engineering firm and a Pac10 university in IT on the budgetary side. The cheap laser printe

The danger of giving up on IRC and going with a hosted corporate product is the chilling effects on free speech by being at the whims and mercurial mercy of corporate interests. They ought to stay with a self-hosted product that cannot be s

That's a strawman because the shriekingly-obvious difference is ease of facilitation. With Docker, it's a mere couple of commands to pull a box and run it. Docker weakens trust because it lets anonymous people, as well as trusted

You can't. Not without end-to-end integrity with nonrepudiation. Checksums aren't anywhere near enough. But that's Docker.. security optional and run random, untrusted code from the internet.
